Dyno Results - SE 2 into 1 Pipes, SERT, SEAC
« on: March 21, 2006, 07:28:59 PM »

I've just had SE 2 into 1 pipes installed with an SE air cleaner & SERT. It runs great. The first couple of tanks of gas seem to show a substantial improvement in gas mileage, but I'll check that more accurately. I'm very ignorant when it comes to understanding some of the technical issues discussed here, though the more I read, the more I learn - thanks. I hope some of you more knowledgable folks can enlighten me on my dyno tune results. I opted for the 2 into 1's knowing I should get somewhat better performance than true duals. As you can see below, my HP was 91.66 & torque 93.58. I've seen several true dual results on this forum where both were well over 100. I've noticed, however, my printout says "uncorrected" and others say "corrected". Would someone be kind enough to explain why my numbers are low? [smiley=confused5.gif]

Hopefully, some of the more experienced guys will explain better, but corrections are made for humidity, temps and such. As far as your set up, the SE 2 into 1 pipe is not known to make big numbers. I'm pretty sure supertrapp makes if for HD, but it's HD specs, and it's not tuneable like the ST. On the positive side, your dyno looks good. The tq builds quickly with no dip. Most of us don't ride WFO where the dyno top numbers are formed anyway, so if it runs good with no hiccups and fuel mileage is good, you should be very happy.

I didn't have any problems before but am having start problems now. Once it starts it runs fine but I'm typically having to make about 3 attempts before it fires up. With EFI I'm used to bikes starting first time everytime. I'll take it back to the shop this morning.

You should either get a copy of Calibration each time they make a change or ask for copies of ALL the Tables.

I've had my SE Ultra in the shop for over two weeks now.  They can't seem to get their hands on a SERT!  What the hell is going on here?  One of the head service guys said something about the EPA causing the MoCo to have to change something in the program.  This sounds like BS to me.  I thought the whole reason to have the SERT was to tune your EFI to run it's best with different pipes and intake, cams or whatever changes you want to make.  My question is, has anyone heard of a shortage or very recent change in HD's SERT? the guy made a comment that the SERT was on the Pending Obsolete list
I asked today and my dealer told me SERT's were on hold for now and SE pipes would quit selling May 1st.

I confirmed with another dealer in our area that "when they are gone, they are gone!"  He just got 20 in and will probably not see any more.  Other aftermarket products to take its place but they all piggy back vs re-code the ECM.

I finally got my bike back yesterday.  Got my break-in tune up.   My shop got the SERT, I did the Doherty PowerPACC with Rush mufflers w/2" baffles.  I live at an elevation over 5300 ft.  My dyno sheet showed a very smooth curve for both hp and tq.  I was a little disappointed in the numbers, but they aren't too different from the sheet posted on this thread.  I got just over 91 hp, and 96 tq.  At least I got a SERT before they were all gone!  I was only able to ride the bike back from the shop- about 40 miles from my home, but it seems to run pretty well.  I like the pipes.  I wouldn't want them any louder, but they have a nice deep sound.  The air fuel mixture seems to be spot on, so if my mileage is reasonable and there are no lean spots or misses, I'll probably leave good enough alone.  I know the altitude doesn't help, but with the SE heads and cams, plus 103", I thought I could reasonably expect the one horse per cube rule to apply.  I'm about 90% sure I'll switch to gear drive cams, but I'll wait 'til the 2 yr. warranty is up, and I'll be looking for something pretty close to stock for profiles.
I'm just glad winter is over, and look forward to the riding season. [smiley=jalapeno.gif]-Steve
