I found on the net a place who sold the kit for our bikes ( 3M stuff) it was $95.00 . All cut to size. You put it on yourself.

I am going to try what we use to do with the cars at the track, buy some clear swaran wrap, the stuff the seals the top of a bowl, and put 5 or 6 layers on and than I can take it off get rid of it. put more on when I need it. Worked on cars (Vetts, BMW) on 4.2 mile road corse over 2 days high speed was 150 and never came off. It did stop the small rocks and rubber marks on the front of car.

I got the trike paint back and it is now back together and I want to cover the fenders and the fairing.

I have photo on my computer but I can't size smaller to post. They are 3.7 mb size. Can you make smaller if I e-mail you the photo's?

We just pulled it hard left and right and put it on, 4-5 layers. We did not care what it looked like with small wrinkles in it, just wanted to save the paint on the front end. At the end of the weekend I would take it off.
I was going to try it and at the end of the ride on the bike just take it off, put more on when I would go on a road trip. Best part is if I run out of it on the road, just go and buy some more at any food store. and it cost $1.00 or so per roll........

That was the same place I found. it was $95.00 for the kit I think.

I just don't know if I would want something that is on forever.......

I need to do shows with the bike and would not want it on it. With the trikes the rear fender's on the body is what takes all the rock chips just like the bags do on stock bikes.

Something new from DupliColor (the touch-up paint folks) - temporary spray material for bug and minor chip protection.  May be worth a try.  http://www.duplicolor.com/products/shield.html

I just went to the web site for it and it only talks about bugs and road grime. it said nothing about stone chips.
Not that the bugs and road grime would be nice to keep off ( so I might buy a can of clear and try)

Also on the web site it has a nice vido clip on how to spray it on and wash it off.

So........I will buy one and try it ( if it ever gets warm in Chicago and the bugs are out)

I'm guessing the "minor chips" thing has more to do with abrasion from sand, etc., and not real rock chips.

Jerry,

I am in Wooddale.

I did take the new trike out last weekend and ran to Woodstock H-D , and did clean off bugs on the body and fenders when I got home.

Got to ride 150 miles and that was a big deal.

cant' ride this weekend as  we have to do a show in Greenbay WI with all the trikes. Greenbay.....April 22......think their will be 4" or 6" of snow up their????!!!!!

I install mine only for long trips, I did leave it on all summer last year since I did alot of riding.  No scratches underneath or fading.  It really saved me on the trip to Michagian (SP) last sept. when  a large rock hit the fairing, I thought for sure I cracked the fairing.

Obviously clear doesn't mean a glassy finish, but the other choice was a gray mask and you can see from this pic the stuff is clear but foggy (oh well the SEUC is already foggy ) ;D
