recommendation on HID Lights for 09 SERG
« on: December 03, 2010, 12:19:54 PM »

I know this topic has been covered before but mostly on new installation.  Since a lot of members have had their HID lights installed for a few month or years. I wanted to hear what are some of the problems the have experience and would they still recommend installing them on the Road Glide.  I am in the middle of a rebuild  ::) and was thinking of adding more light to the stock lighting ether the HID or headwinds external lights.  Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

I converted the stock headlights to HID.  With the increased lighting I didn't feel it was necessary to add any additional light assemblies (headwinds, etc) on the bike.  The upgrade was interesting because I have an amp, crossovers, hidden antennae and now the modules for the HID in the nose, so I had to rearrange things to get everything to fit.  Oh well, it gave me practise installing the fairing

TD119,

I have the Xenonlink 6000 (pure white).  Terrific lighting.  I also have the Kuryakyn LED running lights.  They make a great combination.  Oncoming cars will certainly take notice.  The the HID lights give off less glara than the stock halogen.  I have had them for two years with no issues.  I don't even need my high beams so I doubt you would ever need any auxiliary lighting.  Mine are in this thread:  SERG AND CVO, VERY GOOD TO ME! NEXT?

LED lights are on the market though I've not seen any for the Road Glide, yet. That might be worth investigation. They are alot more expensive though and don't seem to offer more light than HID.  Good luck with your choice.

I would highly recommend the fork mounted moto lights, they are plug & play, if you want to be seen coming down the road  day or night ..... these are the way to go    www.motolight.com

I used the Aluminaxenon lights.  This is a HID low and high beam bulb.  Some of the less expensive systems don't use a HID high beam. Check out their website on how the high setting is accomplished, cool.

I've been reading these thread on HID lights and am considering some. I don't ride much at night due to the critters in MN. (I've hit enough deer with my truck to know they come from nowhere.) Are they of any real benefit during the day?  Thanks for your honest replies.

They are the best!  Conspicuity at the highest level, even in daylight

I had them in my '09 CVO Road Glide (Xenonlink 6000 (pure white) and just put them in my '11 Street Glide and once you have them it's hard to go back.

People tell me that they can see my bike better than my gf's because of the white headlight.  Don't know, I sit on the other side.
