Ride-Str8 installed
« on: April 01, 2006, 09:23:30 AM »

Thanks to JR I managed to "get in" on the group buy ( I bought his).

For those that haven't seen pictures, below are some shots.

It would have only taken 20 minutes, as I did not have to move my exhaust, but I had some unexpected assistance. You know how it is, sometimes when your best friend wants to help speed things up it actually slows you down  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I rode about 140 miles after the install. Can't say if it made a difference or not, I have only done a couple hundred miles since I put the bike away for the winter.

But, it did "seem" better on the high speed lane changes, crossing over the "between lane" joints.

I'll give it one

Great job Duane! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Enjoyed the install and review. It seems to have worked out well for both of us! Looked like an easy install even with your best friend slowing you down! Get back with us after you log some more miles. Ride Safe and God Bless Ya Bro! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Update. I did 200 plus miles today with a fair stretch of twisties.
The verdict. I think it helps some, but does not completely eliminate the wiggle. Overall I would say it is a 50-80% improvement, and for the ease of installation I would recommend it.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Duane, not to sound dumb, but how do you get the lower bolt in and out without removing the exhaust/muffler?  Good pictures-Thanks.

I've put just about 500 miles on since installation.
My opinion is that there is a noticeable difference in higher speed stability in a straight line. The wobble I previously felt is probably 80% gone but she still tries on 70-80 mph sweepers.(Of course these results were done by a professional rider on a closed course circuit)
One thing I did notice was more vibration at idle. It seems to me that the engine has less room to move around at idle because this device holds the engine in a more rigid posture. Initially I adjusted the arm from trans to swingarm mount while bike was on a frame jack. When I checked the adjustment with the bike on it's normal kickstand I felt it was too tight and backed off one (1) turn. (on kickstand but standing straight up) To me it seemed like some of the vibration was eliminated and I suspected I had set it too tight at first.
The only hassle was having to drop the exhaust system. Big deal, right?
