Well Doc, I got mine  tonight. It looked good. Simple unbolt of the old frame and disconnect the light. Remove the backing plate inside the fender. Getting my plate to fit in the frame took a few minute. Besides getting the curve right (I used a pastry roller), my state has pretty poor inmates. The plate edges were not consistent so I had to use some shears to trim it up. Once I got that done I went to install it. No drilling or anything. It fits like it was made for the CVO. I got one of the bolts started. I installed the other and just as it was beginning to tighten, the weldnut popped off! I wasn't over tightening (lock washer hadn't compressed yet) so I thought maybe the bolt was too long. That was not it either. It seems like a crappy weld (made in Taiwan of course). So I emailed Yaffe with a pic to get a replacement. Very disappointing. But I can say it fit well up to that point!

Her's a couple of pics before it broke. I have the black version and it looks good. Same harness connector as the factory.

Dang...that really sux...I can hear yer Coon Ass cussin it now...so it's back to the waiting game. Would you post a pic of the plate in what you've got? I'm curious how much of the plate it eats and if it would suffice for my CA plates and stickers. Thanks again and everybody is just as anxious as you are to see what it's gonna look like mounted.

I've got one more quick question...did they ask for a return ship on the broken one or are they just comping you a new one? If they aren't requiring you to send it back, then would you consider shipping it to me? I'll pay for the shipping and I can have someone tack it back down fer cheap...just a thought. Thanks!

I havent heard back from Yaffe yet so I don't know if they want the broken one back. Here's a pic with the plate in it so you can see if it may cover some of your plate stickers. It did on mine partially but I'm not going to worry about it....

Unfortunately covering the numbers and stickers may get you a ticket in many places especially at rallies like Bike Week or Myrtle Beach.

They need money and you are the source.

Thanks for the pic of the plate in the frame. I'll keep an eye out for an answer on the other...appreciate you considering it.

Since this seems to be the largest topic concerning the Kury 9182 license frame, I thought I'd post this here.

For those who have or want to mount this frame directly against their fenders, I'm curious how many might be interested in buying a custom-designed/made rubber gasket to fit between the frame and the fender.  It would include a horizontal strip in the middle which, along with the gasket's perimeter, would keep the plate away from the fender.  See pic below.

There are places on the web that will cut custom gaskets.  I think final cost would depend upon number of units made, but I would try to keep it around $20-$25 if possible.  After getting an idea of the amount of interest, I could have a prototype cut and fit it to make sure it works, then have a run of multiple units made.

Not promising I'll do it, but if there's enough interest I'll give it a shot.

Just so I understand, would the gasket eliminate any gap  between the frame and the fender and make it look like a "flush" mount?

I just ordered a 9182  Im confused maybe its me but looking at the picture Eastern Performance or Kuryakyn shows of the backing plate, the strip in the middle of the gasket doesnt look correct??????  I would definetly pop for one if its a correct fit.  Also I assume the rubber would be black?

Wayne,

This gasket would be used without the backing plate.  Only for those who want to drill the four corner mounting holes in their fenders to mount the frame DIRECTLY against the fender as has been done by many here.  Can't stress this point enough...NOT for use with the backing plate supplied with the frame.  And yes, the rubber would be black.  Pic is not because it's easier to see the shape in a lighter color.

FLHXSE2:  Yes, at least I'm hoping that will be the case.  I will know for sure after a prototype is made and have a chance to test-fit it.  Some have said there is a very slight gap at the outer edges because the frame curve doesn't EXACTLY match the fender's curve, but from the looks of pics guys have posted, that gap has been hidden with the use of inner fairing trim or similar around the edges.  If I get a proto made I would definitely post pics of the fit before taking orders so everyone can see the result.

I'm not a vendor or anything...just a '11 SESG owner interested in a nice workable solution to using this frame w/o the backing plate because I like that look.
