They also went on to say that the front wheel was on backorder until this week and the back wheel is "obsolete" (or was that the other way around?) so I'm not sure how much longer they'll be able to trade like for like.

Wow, those are some interesting articles.  I've already contacted our members from the bay area and asked them to check around over there at the dealership that was named and see if they can learn anything factual (vs. rumor).

Whatever the case may be, it's not looking good for us as far as performance changes go, in the future. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Just got both front and real wheels on 04 [smiley=pumpkin.gif] changed under original factory warranty. It took awhile because I Went with thunderstars and they were on back order. Plus I got the Credit of price difference. I would have not got the credit if I had not known to ask about it. (Thanks to A member here, I think it was BAKRDS for posting the info.) My dealer said that they did not know about any of these issues with cvo seegs or the credit. I talked to the owner and told them about some of the issues and that I got them from this site. They took great care of me through the entire proceess.

Funny how the stealerships keep that kind of info to themselves unless you know enough to ask. Glad it helped you.

Well,
Just now noticed that my mirror arms are starting to bubble, and I also see a light brownish spot on my rear wheel. I guess I'll find out now how the change of ownership at my dealer will affect my chrome issues. I hope that I have good news to report after my visit to them!

Uh Oh -  that's something else (mirror stems) for me to check carefully before my warranty expires in October - Ah! - I just thought - on the HDI models we got "standard" teardrop mirrors with chromed steel arms - I think you guys got Aluminator mirrors with the machined arms in chromed alloy?? So maybe NOT something for me to worry about after all

When I had my wheels exchanged I didn't see any brown stains ( [smiley=oops.gif]) or spots.
Since the wheels are alloy not steel there shouldn't be any rust which is what would normally cause the staining.

I have also had all 4 footboards replaced and the rear brake arm

I noticed at the weekend that the painted logo on the derby cover is losing some of the turquoise/teal paint but this might be difficult to claim on since I already have a scrape on the lower edge of the cover from a slight spill.

I guess I will have to be careful how I point out the problem to the Service Manager - maybe rest my hand at the bottom or hold on to the passenger bracket while she is looking at the paint

Cheers

Dave

Dave,
I wouldn't say rust at all- but a chrome discoloration from either the chrome finish went bye bye, or the last stage was just so thin that in the course normal cleaning just wore out to expose what layers were applied to the Aluminum.
Either way it aint chrome no more and it aint gonna be staying on my bike!

Ah - I understand now Mark

I guess you are through to the copper coat above the nickel - which is bad in any case

Better make sure you tell the dealer you only used approved products to clean otherwise he'll tell you you wore it off... ;)

Good Luck
