Next I told Jim I used to have the SE 58 throttle body on this build. I switched to the stock HD 50mm throttle body which has been bored to 54mm by HPI. I had a dyno comparison on the two throttle bodies. Again the differences are slight. The SE 58mm starts to make more hp than the HPI 54mm around 4600 rpm.  The end result is the 58mm beats the 54mm by 2 horsepower at 6000 rpm. It should be noted this comparison was done with the D&D Fat Cats. The HPI modified 54mm throttle body was on the build during the pipe comparison dyno.
See http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=41033.msg630858#msg630858

So if I kept the D&D Fat Cats as well as the SE 58mm throttle body, I may have gained 5 horsepower. This still seems low for this build.  The constants on this build have been T-Man 590 cams and T-Man Stage 3 heads (1.94 intake / 1.615 exhaust / 90cc). If I get a bug about this build, I may flow these heads to see if they are the issue. However I highly doubt they are. I’m incline to believe I’m going to love the torque and power being right in the area I ride and say screw it. FWIW.JW

I just hope Lexi's PMS days are over with!

I'm inclined to believe you're gonna love that torque too!

I'm using the TTS so Jim can make the adjustment for the speedo corrections. I also went with the Heavy Breather just because I like the look on of it on this bike.

Scott, thanks for all your help too.

The D&D F C made 3 more horsepower but that was after 5000 rpm. Based on these results, I am happy with the BUB 7 T D.

Based on the fact that you are happy with your Bub's, I must say the 01 SERG is happy with your old rejected D&D Fatcat.
Us poor people have to use rejects, but sometimes that's a good thing!

You poor thing! I don't believe there is any thing that's a reject in your garage. Besides, it's great when you can try something, decide it's not for you and sell it and recoup some of your investment. It's better when the someone is a bud that want it and gets a good deal. Kinda like wondering if you should buy a used bike long distance!  :2vrolijk_21:

OK, OK maybe the rejects position was a little strong.   :nixweiss:

How bout this, any time you decide your not happy with anything you have, I'm interested.

 :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

And that long distance bike buying is a sweet deal when we have friends we trust.

Right!

Hi Jeff

Somebody has to fill the Hoist void!  :P  My sanity has been questioned on numerous occassions, some of those times were in Federal court. No paper (warrants) out for me...yet.

There is no doubt this bike's been snake bit. I just haven't decided to let her go. Doesn't make sense but there it is.

bet you would have liked a "Do Over" , but almost never get them.

If I'm getting "Do Over"s I need to make a list.  :P

Picked up my scoot yesterday. I put 150 or so miles on her coming home. Couple of things I noticed right away:

Noise - The valve train noise has been greatly reduced. There is no longer any ticking noise. I can hear the valve working thru the heavy breather. However, I have almost the same amount of noise from my stock 110. I can't say the noise has been reduced due to the new grind TR-590s or Jim clearing the other side of the rocker boxes? I just know it is much quieter.

Heavy Breather - I had Jim mount the a heavy breather on Lexi as I ended up with one with the H D shop going out of business. I like the look for this bike, not sure I think I'd like it on a scooter with a batwing? I don't need to worry about it as they will not mount on the SESG as the lower speakers are in the way. The parts catalog would lead you to believe they will fit, they don't. The heavy breather seems to amplify airway / valve train noise. I can hear her breathing. Nothing bad, just something I noticed.

Torque - This motor has plenty of that. I love it. I can be cruising along at 80 mph in 6th gear / 3300 rpm or so, twist the wick and the front suspension rises up and I'm at 110 mph / 4500 rpm PDQ. I know the dyno chart shows she's missing on the ponies but as a friend of mine said "if it runs great to that point it could hop up on down on Sister Mary's stick pin the rest of the way to the rev limiter for all I care!" That really does sum up my feeling on it. It would be nice to figure out what is holding the top end back, but it's nicer to enjoy the ride and save the bucks. God knows I have enough of them wrapped up in her now.

Wood Directional Roller Lifters - I've been told these seem to take about 15-30 seconds to pump up and to expect a little noise from them right at first. I am happy to say I have not experienced this, no noise. I found it interesting that Bob Wood is not market these to "quiet" motors down (the reason I bought them) but to stay more pumped up to get all the lift the cams have to offer. I got lucky.

Jagg 10 row horizonal oil cooler - The oil was 190 degrees when I pulled her into the garage. The oil cooler was hot to the touch, never noticed that on the stock H D one. Not sure how much weight to give this as it was around 52 degrees for the trip. I'm going to be checking this closely as I may put on on Vanessa.

Works Suspension - Lexi rides so damn nice, I'm going to put a set of these shock on the SESG2 (Vanessa) Lexi is just a great ride. I think the stock SESG shocks are a good as any OE I've ever used but fixing up the suspension is worth the money to me.

I don't have much else to offer as it was a short ride. Time will tell the tale on this motor. I'm hopeful. Thanks again Jim - Strokerjlk!  :2vrolijk_21:
