Yeah, my gear drives had a little bit of a gear whine at first, not much, but just a bit. I really kind of liked it. I have about 1000 miles on them and either they have quieted down a lot or I'm just used to them.

I would think that if the gear drive cams gave a little whine that would be cool.
After all we do this stuff for the performance and shouldn't "performance" be heard too [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Nothing sounds as cool as the whine from a hidden blower on a street car.
Or how about the whine from a big primary belt drive?

When the time comes that I have the extra $$$ for the cams and oil pump I kinda hope there is a little whine to let everyone around know that the engine is ready to rock  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

We haven't had top mounted air horns in over 10 years. I can't believe that "experts" in your department will not let you get headsets (can't be a money issue because there are grants out there for these, will not cost the municipality anything). Also there is a benefit (but don't let any of the "white" shirts at my department know this) you can hook up your Ipod to them, and listen to tunes as you cruise around. Speaking of this, it was all nice, and good until one day someone had

downloaded "Fire" by Ohio Players. Guess what we were doing a couple of hours after hearing that song????

/me was "dropping cotton". [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

All of our new rigs in the last 5 or so years have had bumper mounted trumpets, but my first ten years..... we had those CF Macks with the 30" horns on top, the horns that used so much air the valve would freeze!

"Fire" by Ohio Players.

DooD come on now, you guys don't really ......... next thing Ya know you'll be telling us you use "We Are Family" for a theme song

That's something that I've already read in several places and had reported from people here.

Just finished the install about an hour ago.  Zippers 575, Feuling Oil Pump, Feuling Lifters, Zippers chrome moly pushrods, Zippers Bypass Shim etc.  Totally different bike as it actually has some low end torque, rolls on from 2000 and holds it all the way across the power band.  I won't have time to put the bike on the dyno until Friday, but am anxious to fine tune it to the cam.  BTW, if your changing cams the Feuling Oil Pump is a must.  No more 0 pressure at a hot idle and about 1/3 more pressure on the gauge at all rpm's.  Thanks to Zippers for a great cam and the R&D they put into the effort.

Thanks Don! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] I will be bringing my scooter in this week. I am getting it dyno before and after. Same set up as you except I will be using Thundermax and D&D Fatcats. How long did it take for your install and was clearance OK or did you have to cut the case?
