SUP WITH THAT?? You will be fine. I have installed many sets and even have a set in my Dyna. Some do make more noise than others some make no noise at all!!!!! If you are like me you are almost deaf from the air horns and sirens.

Not worried, I had been forewarned. As you stated after 23 years of Q2 sirens, and air horns (first 15 years w/o any hearing protection) I doubt I will be as sensitive to "whine" as others may be. From the benefits I will receive from cams I'll take a little whine if it's noticeable.

Congratulations Mike.  That's a heluva long time in service to the District.  Do you know for sure what's next to occupy the newly found spare time?

Also, just an FYI, at least on this set the cam noise isn't a "bad" noise.  It was just more than I'd anticipated.  It's actually that solid-lifter-in-a-motor-with-a-blower kind of "sing" that I actually quite like.  Just took a bit to get used to.  Wouldn't be at all surprised either if the tiniest bit of wearing in doesn't happen over time and they settle in a bit too.

Wow, you really got it bad, makes my rinky dink department look outstanding. We haven't had top mounted air horns in over 10 years. I can't believe that "experts" in your department will not let you get headsets (can't be a money issue because there are grants out there for these, will not cost the municipality anything). Also there is a benefit (but don't let any of the "white" shirts at my department know this) you can hook up your Ipod to them, and listen to tunes as you cruise around. Speaking of this, it was all nice, and good until one day someone had downloaded "Fire" by Ohio Players. Guess what we were doing a couple of hours after hearing that song?
