Louder, yes. Better performance, not really. Save the time and effort, buy a x-pipe from Fullsac Performance and be happy.

I agree, louder, a little. If you do a tuner, mufflers, air cleaner, it will perform better.

Hi Thomas,

didn't you join us in Lugano?

I already had drilled the cat out then and with Kess pipes still meet the regulations (in closed mode only of course ;))

The gain was huge as with 58 throttle body, big injectors, SE 260 cams and high compression pistons there was a significant loss of torque just under 3.000 rpm we couldn't tune away with SEPST. Cured entirely after the cat was gone. And much cooler.

Roland did the same with his stock engine and he feels a significant improvement too.

But it's really a beasty bit of work even with the best of tools so today I recommend using x-pipes too.

Thomas,

The only difference between the '11 and '09 CVO exhaust is the location of the O2 sensers so these threads should be helpful:

Removing a Catalytic Converter form 09 CVO Road Glide
Note that initially many of us drilled out the cat but this did not remove the entire cat.  Later many of us either cut the head pipe to remove the rest of the cat and rewelded the headpipe or had it done by Fullsac Perfomance (or someone).

Installing Fullsac Baffles on 09 CVO Road Glide
These come in three sizes, sound great, keep the stock cans and are fall less expensive than aftermarket mufflers.  Good luck!

ThomasK, go on Ebay and purchase the exhaust header assembly for any 2009 HD other than Screaming Eagle models and it will be cat free and be an exact fit replacement. I did this on my 2009 SE Ultra Classic and it worked like a charm when I installed. Very easy if you are at all mechanical and have some tools. The harder part for first timers, is grinding out the muffler core welds to replace with Fullsac cores. I did that too and after completing the 1st muffler, the 2nd went much easier. There is info on this site about how to do that too. Then you will have to reprogram your ECM. I used TTS Mastertune from Fullsac and then sent a base program to load into the ECM in place of the stock map. It too was quite easy after reading the instructions a couple times. Some have recommended having some cold beer while doing this process, but I am not competent enough with computers to be able to have a few while doing it. Good Luck

What bike(s)??

Louder? Probably a little.
More power? A little.
This is assuming you do NOTHING else. 8)
Remember the Euro models are a little different than domestic in the exhaust area.
