Pee on you Mark.  I got new wheels!

Ok, not for the SEEG though.  Finally dug out the wheels for the Road King project last week.  American Wire 100 spokes.  18x3.5" front and 16x3.5 rear with the aramid belted versions of the AM41 and AM42 Avon Venoms for rubber.  Rotor and pulley for the rear won't be here for a week or so.  Probably wait to get the tires on the wheels after those parts arrive.

If I keep going there will be enough parts in the pile to actually make a bike :mango: !

OK OK Don. I am getting new wheels too!

Talked to Bart(owner) and Charley(tech) at Cateye Customs here in Russellville. I trust Charley with
working on my bike. He knows a lot about old and new Harleys. I won't let just anyone touch my baby.

Bart is going to call me Monday with best price on Renegade Tahoe wheels 21 front and 18 rear.
He is pricing me a set of Rinehart 4" slipons and a sony radio because my stock CD player gave up
on me.

He also told me that he will make you guys on this site some good deals so check him out before
you buy.  cateyecustoms.com or call him for the best deals

Lots of goodies for the "Great Banana :bananarock: ."  When you do the Sony radio do yourself a favor and check out the kit from HawgWired if you've not already seen it.  The mounting kits from other vendors aren't nearly as nice nor as robust as the one from HawgWired.

Charley already told me he only uses the Hog Wired install kits, he said it was the best
kit for putting a new sony in my bike! :2vrolijk_21: Since you have suggested that also I am
beginning to think he knows what he is talking about.

And as always Banana's Rock!!!! :bananarock:

The HawgWired mounts are far and away superior.  Their interface for the handlebar controls I prefer over the competition also.  It does have one shortcoming though.  You lose the AVC with that interface.  No automatic volume control just means you occasionall get surprised when you slow down coming back in to a town :huepfenlol2: .

Didn't know about loosing the AVC. That is not a deal breaker for me so it's all good.

That's how I've been on the red bike.  Quickly get used to dialing it down a bit as you roll in to a town for fuel.  Aside from that one little glitch though the interface is rock solid.  Works just like the aftermarket head unit was intended to be there.

Just remembered one thing you gain too.  Lose the AVC but the trade off is you can turn the radio on from the handlebar controls.  No more leaning forward to turn it on at the radio.  Just push both buttons at the same time.  Oddly the same thing doesn't turn it back off.  But it's still handy to be able to turn it on while going down the road without having to take your feet off the pegs or otherwise disturb your comfy spot.

Being able to turn the radio on with the handlebar controls is a plus and as long
as the controls still work the same as they always have I will be happy. Just hate the factory
CD player does not work anymore. Wanted to keep that part of my bike stock but maybe I will
have some better sounding tunes with a better quality radio now.

The Sony radio in the red bike is an improvement.  It's a marine unit but still has a pre-amp out the back.  Use that to feed the HawgWired amp and the tunes are great.  CD doesn't skip any more than the Harley radio did.  And the handlebar controls work exactly as you expect them to.

You probably already have done this.  But if not it's worth checking.  Not all the Sony head units have programmable displays for the face color.  Some, however, have a red option for the face's display.  If you get one that can do that the color is a great match to our instrument lights.

Good information will try to get the red option. It is always important to be color matched. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks for the input on the wheel and tire combo. The new 140 tire is out
and it is a lot taller than the 120. You have to raise the front fender to run a 140.
I want to keep a lower look so I am going with a 120.

I choose the 21 for the front. After installing the progressive lowering kit on the front I am very happy. No regrets what so ever. Actually like the way it handles now compared to the factory 16's.

I am running a stock size rear (RK Custom wheel) with an 18 inch front (2011 Harley Airstrike wheel) with Pirelli Night Dragon tires. Rides and handles just fine, I didn't notice much difference at all over the stock front wheel, no more than the different with a new set of tires vs a worn out set.

I like the look just fine.

Great look on the front of your bike. I hope mine will look as good when my
wheels come in.
