Sorry to get off topic here, guys, but I thought I might post something about the Spun Aluminum Oil Temp Gaugue.
Haven't taken it far yet to see how it responds to lots of heat in the motor, but I will do so at some point tomorrow.

Thanks fellows for the install/ride reports.  I rec'd mine yesterday and read the instructions.  They say to run the gauge power wire to the fusebox and the ground to the frame ground point under seat.  I plan to power and ground my gauge install using existing wires in the fairing and only running the signal wire to the sender mounted in the oil pan reservoir.

Boatman, I thought about doing that too, and it should work just fine.  I didn't want to spice into the exisiting hot and ground wires for the air temp gauge, so I just ran the entire harness.  The install to the fuse box and ground post under the seat is an easy job if you end up doing it that way.

Jerry-my gauge is like the picture you posted in the box (no tail on pointer)-otherwise looks good except for no needle stops.  My box was unopened so it shouldn't have been a return.  Didn't look for a date-would look now but it is not close by.

At the risk of coming off as a total wise ass, this thread is taking on Energizer Bunny status  Hey maybe Naitram could add a new marker to threads like this instead of the flame ( I mean seriously, how "hot" is talking about a guage ? Informational - - -- yes Worthwhile - - - yes  but hot - - - NOT  8-)

And an even better match all 6 gauges would match and the needle would light up

I have mine installed and some miles on it. There is about a 20 degree difference between it and the oil temp dipstick. The temp dipstick reads higher. I did the install in the drain pan as described. Typical HD gauge :( Which one is correct [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
