It's mine....it is a 2006 CVO, now has 26,000 miles it, been cross the US cost to cost three times just keeps running fine. Put one new belt on it last year after it took a rock that went all the way in and out of it! Put and good size hole in it.

I read all the post each day and just do not jump in on many, fun to read them all and know what you guys are up to.

I just can't stress enough that on this trike buying deal, no matter what anyone buys, they need to ride them all to know how they ride and than buy one.

just to let a little "out of the bag", so many have bought the Harley trike and just can't stand the ride, so stiff, rides like a truck, that we are just about to release a kit to put IRS under the Harley. It will use a lot of the stock parts from the bike (body, fenders, wheels pulley, reverse ect) just a bolt on kit.

Dean

Dean, that is why I believe there are so many used ones for sale? I've heard the same things.

Have only test ridden the HD trike once with a BSR have to agree with Dean, above.  Very stiff ride but I assume that could be adjusted.  What surprised me was how much you feel that you are about to be pitched off the trike in every, EVERY turn.  Because there is no lean and you have to turn the handle bars to make a turn, it is not comfortable if you are used to a two wheeler....  Another good reason to try to stay in shape so you can stay on two wheels!  I would certainly consider a modified seat with some lateral support.   Conversly, it was fun!

hard to say why so many for sale. I would assume they just could not get use to it or it was not what they thought it would be like. I tell new owners that from 0-50 miles you learn not to put your foot down at each stop and when going around a corrner you are not going to fall off or it tip over. than from 50-500 miles they get real use to it and all is fine.
now they start to think about the ride, and how it realy works and some still like it or they want to get rid of it.
their is a big change in riding a solid axel vs IRS, you just need to go and ride one of each and you will know.

in the last year most of the trike mfg have started to make some kind of IRS kit, in the first 14 years of DFT, they hammered on us that it was unsafe would not turn ect ect. now most all of them have one to sell.

as for the harley.....look at the air shock system that legen has for them to try to fix the ride.....$1600.00

Our HOG sponsor dealer started selling a different brand of trike with IRS.
He started this after Harley came out with theirs.
He said he wanted to give customers a choice, I believe it's a
brand out of Texas.

Wife's motortrike has air ride suspension, you can contol it with an onboard compressor, they put the button on the fairing and the guage replaces the air temp.  Works pretty good as you can control it.

Jerry, my dad has an '09 TriGlide. He loves it. I've put a mile or two ( ;D ) on it. As Dean has said, it needs an independent rear axle for my tastes. Yes, you can lift a rear wheel. I hit a speed bump & felt it go. Mind you, I was horsing around when it happened and kind of knew it would. It's not the type of bike that many of us coming for two wheels would like, but it absolutely has it's market. My father is 69 and had never ridden before. There's a lot more upper body control needed to maneuver the trike. No leaning. If it comes down to a question as to whether to buy or not, by all means go for it! Going for a ride with my dad has been one of the most enjoyable events in my life.

I know I'll go to 3 wheels when I can no longer hold up the 2 wheels.
Still nothing like the wind in your face! I hope HD comes out with a
better system by then. Hopefully water cooled too, if not might have
to be a different brand!

I have a friend who's wife in exploring getting a trike.  Haven't found a nearby dealer with one in stock but one told her that the H-D factory trikes have some sort of stability control to prevent tip over.  I cannot find any information about this on the H-D website.  Does anyone know about this?  If this is correct is it on both the Ultra and the Street Glide trikes?

They also advise her they could do a trike conversion but I would be concerned about the implications on the factory warranty with an aftermarket conversion.

Essentially Harley's are Lehman's. Go to http://www.lehmantrikes.com/default.aspx?navid=5 and read about their no lean suspension. My wife has a Lehman conversion "Sporty" I've driven it and have never been able to get a rear wheel of the ground. Her girlfirend has a FLHXXX and they are SOLID AS A ROCK!

Here's a pic of the sporty

Hey Ultrafxr, maybe I just imagined it, but I thought that I saw a trike at Bumpus Memphis on Saturday.  Have you checked to see if they have one on the floor?
