Gas mileage
« on: April 21, 2006, 10:12:18 PM »

I've got a quick question for the guys who've had their CUSEs for awhile.  The literature says that the CUSE gets 43 miles per gallon.  Is that realistic.  I had a 2004 ultra and the best I ever got was around 33-35mpg.  I've only got 300 miles on the new CUSE so I'm still in the break in period and was just wondering what is realistic to expect.

Thanks

Uhhhhhh... dunno .... I just watch the gas guage and fill up the tank when it starts gettin' low. I wouldn't count on anything over 35MPG.

Nope, at 55-70 I always got 38-40 on the SEEG.  Since the tank takes 5.5 gallons dead empty I actually creaked past 200 miles a couple of times.

Cruise locked on 75 would be just a bit better than 35 mpg.  Cruise locked on 80 would be 30-32.  Always a little better on cooler days too.  On only very early impressions (1 1/2 tanks of gas) I think cruising mpg has actually gone up just a bit with the new Zippers cam install.

Thanks for the responses.  I could't imagine the 103 engine getting better mileage than the 88.

Well with stock pipes and stock air cleaner/mapping, I got 42mpg running on the highway at 90mph+, 2up and fully loaded for a 4 day weekend with the wife in West By God Virginia. (oh yeah, I got a 6sp) That was pretty consistent thru the weekend, running the backroads or highway, mountains or fairly level land.

Now I'm setup with the #36 map from the SERT, the SE Air Cleaner and V&H True Duals/Ovals.

Yeah, FR8TRN, that's pretty much been my experience......my friend ('05 SEEG) and I ('04 SEEG) get low to mid-40's with  straight hwy. riding.......and the 103 mileage doesn't seem to fall too much when you start riding 'em harder like the smaller motors will......but, with the cost of today's gas, it's still starting to pinch my beer budget.  har!  spyder

Sheesh!  You are so right, but I spent $15 to fill up the bike last night.  Its not the amount as much as the principle!  Who would have thunk it!?!

My setup is similar - #36 map (thanks Mike!) + SE air cleaner + SE Pro performance slip-ons but no 6-speed.

The Melons, they not only look the best and are the rarest of the breed, but they seem to get the best mileage also.  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
