I thought the Fullsac's were ceramic coated?  Wouldn't that prevent rust from forming - at least on the outside?

It should. My x-pipe is still pretty new, I'll have to look at one of the older ones to see how they're holding up, coating-wise!
I'll check my buddies bike, he's pretty hard on stuff, more so than me!

Haven't had any real rain here ( 100 mi. w. of El Paso ) since Jan. I think. The chance of rust forming is minimal. I'm more nervous riding in the rain in the SW than I ever was back east. Didn't get a chance to ride today but did start the rg. I'm liking the exhaust note more each day. Fri. I'm removing the lowering blocks.  I don't like the ride. Guess I'll just tippie-toe or cash in my chrome points and get H-D boot w/ big heels!!

Save your pennies and get a set of custom shocks and you'll be a happy camper!
I did, and sold my stockers last month! Never going back!
Wait till you get that bike on the road, I'm betting you will really like the sound coming out your mufflers....sweet!

Final Update, 2011 FLTRUSE Rio Red w/ 1600 mi. Fullsac stage I, 1 3/4 baffles,,,,,,,,,,,,150 mi. ride today on a beautiful spring day in southwest New Mexico. No more stumble like stock, just solid power through the gears. The sound, while a little bit louder than I would prefer is very deep and with out a doubt HARLEY!!! I do have to crank up the iPod (how yuppy can we get) but still audible at interstate 10 (80+mph) speeds. For some reason the heat, on the right side, is still very noticeble. Keeping the lowers vents closed works better than when open.??!?!?! Oh by the way I also wrapped the exhaust. It will be interesting come summers heat!!!!!!!!!!!!  The seat of the pants feel and the rumble make the fullsac worth the price..

I have the Xpipe and 2" baffles on my rio Red RG and just finally succumbed to removing the lowers yesterday. The heat was so bad at 65-70 mph, 2700-2800 rpms that it would eventually snake thru my chaps and burn my calf/back of my knee. I don't have any wrap on mine. Today just after lunch time I noticed some heat still around my calf area while riding in town.

I'll most likely will go with removing the lowers too. New Mexico summers can get really really warm/hot. although maybe the heat from the bike and the heat from NM summer will balance each-other out. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! I know this might go on another thread but has anyone beat the heat or have any way of diverting it on the 2011 FLRTUSE? To repeat, I've done--x-pipe, and wrap. but I don't believe there is enough air flow in the rear cylinder area. With all the brilliant minds on this forum someone must have solved this issue.

For me, removing the lowers for summer and putting them on again for winter has worked and been my most reasonable solution to prevent right calf/ heuveo cooking   I'm hip about no air flow w/ the lowers on. seems hardly any is reaching that rear cylinder.

I received a new MAP for my bike recently. With the lowers removed, the new MAP and replacing my 2" baffles with 1 3/4", my bike is pretty much perfect. I am so happy! For those that are running the 2" I would highly recommend trying the 1-3/4". A minimal investment for a possible huge improvement in performance.

 i just sold my 1 3/4 baffles and went 2.25 baffles b head pipe and tts tuner  and Steve send me down load running great
but thinking about getting  it tuned in a week or two  .I needed a little more noise

Rob...I'm debating over the 1.75 or the 2.0 cores from Fullsac, along with the X pipe and TTS.  Of the two cores, which do you prefer with regards to performance and sound?  I do not want my ears ringing after 300 miles...I wear full face Nolan helmet.  Had Rinehart TD's on my '06 and though they sounded nice, they were just too loud by the end of a long day.

I have been told by two knowledgable sources that the 2" cores give the best performance, and are not "that" loud.

I've had both 1.75" and currently run 2" and agree with what you've heard.  The 2" baffles had slightly better performance and are not loud at all.  IMHO the 1.75" are too quiet.

That's the direction I'm leaning...will probably order the parts sometime this week from Jim, and then hope I don't f#%* up getting the old cores out of the stock mufflers.  I would assume that a variable speed Dremel with a small tipped grinding bit will do the job...

I tried getting mine out with the Dremel and various bits.  I spent a couple hours on one pipe and got it pretty much ground down but nearly went through the pipe.  I couldn't get the old baffle out and was afraid to grind further or pound the baffle harder.  I ended up sending them to Fullsac and they finished the job.  I wish I did that from the start.  I think it's mainly the tool as I'm generally pretty handy at stuff like that.   My bits were not really long enough to grind squarely and I was trying to be very cautious.  I know many have done it successfully themselves but I'd recommend sending it out as it's cheap enough and they have a quick turn-around.
