Wow Guys,
The quality of those answers is really coooool ! "RacerDJ", agree there is a real difference in the feel, but I could not put my finger on it. My CVO Street Glide does hang into the corners harder, but it is a skinny seat and hard on the bones after a few hours for an Old School like me... While I was thinking it was all suspension, I think 'Bubblehead" might have hit is RIGHT ON THE HEAD.... It is the low profile tires!!!! Not only do the fatter tyres soften the ride on the Ultra per my memory of my last one, but the low profile tyres on the SG makes it hang in there more on the corners......
Guys, Guys, I think you have really helped me... The majority of you say if I can afford it, keep both.. The Street Glide is my Hot Rod around the area, hour or so radius, with the skinny seat, the low profile tyres, the stiffer suspension, that is why I remember my Ultra being a lot more of a long range machine. The fat tyres, made my Ultra wallow a little pushing it on the curves, the air suspension let half down made it a soft non bone jarring ride, the fat seat makes it good too.. It is a combination of all of them put together... I will keep both.
When I am going on a long run, Touring, or late at night when the extra lights on the top box can count for LIFE, and no fumbling in the dark with the cylinder keys with the Auto Locking in the dark, then the CVO Ultra is THE MACHINE....THE CADILLAC !!
But if it is just a Mob of Guys, Hot Rodding around the coast, up in the range for lunch, then the CVO Street Glide is my RIDE and the Granny Glide stays home. The profile of the tyres, the suspension, the seat, the boxes, it does add up to enough differences for me to justify having BOTH!!
You Guys have been great, angles I had not thought of, and the differences are there to add up to both scooters for a purpose... PHATT Garage...
And GOD BLESS AMERICA, We Aussies are with you... Stuff Gadafi and hang that camel on the wall with his tongue hanging out!!!
