Renegade 21" replica Blade Wheel
« on: March 23, 2011, 02:59:38 PM »

I talked with the guy's from Renegade or Hawg Halters Inc. same company I guess, and they mentioned they make a 21" replica of the Blade wheel for our FLTRSE3.  Was wondering if any one has all ready done this and might have some pics. and their opinions on best price, quality, fit and finish.

Take a look at their website:  Renegade Wheels / Road Glide.  They have pictures.  The closest thing to our Blade wheels looks like their South Beach.  BTW, I had a set of their Montery wheels on my 2004 RG and they were excellent.  I dealt with one of the then owners, Chuck.  Bought them at the Laughlin River Run in 2005 and got a pretty good "show discount."

Note the website has not been updated since 2008.   :nixweiss:   :nixweiss:

I did the samething as you Greg and went to their websight and I couldn't find it either I thought it was their Aspen wheel they were talking about?  So I called back and was told it does not appear on their sight or in any of their catalogues and that one of the owners or managers rides a FLTRSE3 and they cut a few 21" blade replicas!  To run their 21" with our bikes they recommend their fender relocation bracket because our fenders are factory lowered blah blah blah.  Anyway has anyone heard of this setup and have any reviews or pics..   I like the look of the blade wheels but would love a 21" in the front and I know I would have to have a matching rear so this seems to be a good solution with out buying a new set.

Chuck is the owner of Renegade and he rides a 09 Yellow SE RG. Hawg Halters is eastern distributor. Call Renegade and ask for Chuck, he is a good guy, will do what he says. He is also a hell of a photographer, have him send you a photo of the 21 for the SERG.
Not sure where the info stating the webpage had not been updated since 08 came from. I checked before typing this and it has Feb 11 and March 11 updates as well as the updated wheels he produces/introduces each year.
I have bought wheels from him, Very good company to deal with.

Hello all,

I did this last summer to my 09' SERG (AKA Orange Crush).  It is an exact match to the stock HD blade wheel with the exception of the HD symbols that are in our stock blade wheel.  I also converted over to a 13" single sided rotor to show off the 21".  I will get you some pictures this weekend, when I get to ride it hopefully.  You do have to do the 1" lift kit, otherwise the fender will hit the tire.  It handles wonderful, and cannot tell a bit of difference on handling, etc.  I got my wheel from Gary at FatBaggers.  Gary is an EXCELLENT source for any type of thing like this.  Renegade has it seems kept a tight lip on this wheel.  It is nice not to have to buy a whole set, instead we can just buy one wheel.

Thanks,

Glide Boy

Can't wait to see the pics.  When you get a chance could you also comment on the breaking performance with the single disc set up. Thanks again Glide Boy for the post.  Renegade calls this wheel the Rampage and they have one 21"  and one 23" in stock but will have to cut the matching rotors.  Quoted pricing was around 2200.00 for the 21" wheel, twin rotors, abs sensor, fender lift brackets, and a mounted 880?  Seems steep and that was discounted  to show pricing and didn't include shipping or labor.

I too would love to see pictures.  I would love to do a matching 21 up front, these bikes look great with 21's on them.

Well, sorry it took so long.  Here are the pictures of the 21" Rampage wheel by Renegade.  I think it looks great, please let me know of your opinions.  I have not noticed any difference in the short time that I have been able to ride with this done.  It seems to handle and brake very similar to the stock wheel.  I would say that the front end may feel slightly heavier, or maybe I am just crazy.  The following is what I did to the bike.

21" Rampage Front wheel by Renegade
13" Matching rampage design front rotor
Lowered the front forks 1" (Down to level out the bike)
6 Piston Hawg halters front caliper
Convert brake line to single sided caliper
ABS Sensor
Billet front fender lift kit
Dyna beads for balancing front tire
Dunlop 21" front tire

Give me a shout if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Glide Boy

Look is very good , respect , good job , identical matching the stock wheel.
Why did you change to just a single brake-rotor ? ( and did not took the two )
What are dyna beads ?

Jagger, Dyna beads are ceramic beads put inside of the tire for balancing instead of stick on wheel weights.  Not to answer for Glide Boy but I'm sure he went with the single rotor for a cleaner look and not breaking performance.
