GC_Super, I've got the Nolan N-100 series, too (the last number designates the color)......as a matter of fact, I have one with a clear shield for nightime riding and one with a blue shield (cause it's a black helmet with a blue shield to match the black and blue SEEG) for day time riding.  Although I usually get caught out at night with the daytime helmet......I just flip the shield up and ride on.

The face shield can be ordered in a number of different tint colors.  From the inside, it still looks dark smoked however, on the outside it's whatever color you ordered.

By the way, I wore this helmet across the desert in 100+ degrees heat.  The helmet actually keeps you cooler because it keeps the sun off of your noggin.  Just be sure to open the head vent and the chin vent.

With the chin flap in place, it's the quietest helmet that I've ever put on.

Wanted to write a little about the HJC AC 12 I posted back on page 6 of this thread...had not put the helmet on until I got the VROD.  The helmet is very light, first of all...easy to operate flip shield, though the entire chin bar does not raise like some; Very quiet; great aerodynamics; nice ventilation...you can really feel the air washing from the chin vent across the inside of the shield and front of your face, plus the two small vents on top, work well also.  The little chin flap really does make a difference too!!  Very comfortable on the bike, even without a windshield...it's that aerodynamic.

N-100 vs N-102 that last digit isn't a color differentiation JC.

Just an update on my latest addition to the helmet collection...Purchased two of the Nolan N102 Flip Up full face helmets through J&M (the folks that make the headsets and other communication devices for motorcycles) with their headset/mic installed.  Great helmets!!!  The sound quality of the headset is light years beyond the HD that came on the Ultra (which absolutely sucks, IMO), and the VOX intercom on the bike works like it should now.

Here's the link, if anyone is interested:  http://www.jmcorp.com/NolanHelmets.asp

The guy in the photo is not wearing the 102, but the pics just to the right are the 102...it's a one handed release to flip up, built in sun shield which operates independently from the clear shield and is adjustable for sun angle.  Helmets are well ventilated, with two chin vents and a two position crown vent.  Sizes run normal...I wear a 7 3/8 hat and the large fits great.  If you need a helmet, and want to get rid of the POS HD headsets, this is a good road to travel.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

then Suzanne, sitting behind me going down the road, says through the intercom (which I could actually understand this time) 'what does that small "S" mean on the back of your helmet', and I told her it was just some Italian chit... ;D ;D
