It's no laughing matter.  Especially getting the metric system all involved...besides, it sounds ok if you read it real fast. 8)  har.  spyder

Always have used Mobil 1 V-twin 20w50 in the engine and Primary chaincase and Mobil 1 75w90 gear lube in the trans. Have had nothing but great results.  That's just my experience. Ride safe!

Going against the grain, I run Royal Purple 20w50 in all 3 holes.

1/2 quart, pint, same amount, but if it makes you happy i will restate what i said, it now uses maybe a 1/2 quart. Is that better?  When i posted that i had been up about 27 hrs. and had driven over 600 miles overnight and had to deal with idots in 4 wheelers, so guess i was brain dead.

Interesting. I run the mobil 1 20/50in the engine and mobil 1 syn trans fluid in primary , but have been running redline or spectro 75/140 6 speed oil in tranny. Since I get my mobil 1 at a local O'reilly auto parts store I wonder do you know if they carry the 75/90 gear oil there?

By the way , O'reillys has Mobil 1 v twin 20/50 on sale til the end of April for 7.99 a qt.

My Krypto is so noisy when hot which in Florida is most of the time, I have decided to do a test of Redline 20W60 oil, V-Twin Transmission W/Shockproof and V-Twin Primary fluids. I have no problems using 20W60 oil living in Florida.
The trans fluid was my first change, the clatter/rattle when hot, at idle, in neutral, clutch out, is not completely gone but has been greatly reduced. Step one successful
I want to put some miles on each change before I do the next one
I will be updating my results as I go

Wayne,

My Krypto tranny, when hot, with the clutch out......sounds like it is going to come apart.  Yours too?

Yep  Thats why I'm doing this test. The redline v-twin trans w/shockproof seems to have quieted that issue down, not eliminated but I can handle it now. I just got back from a stop and go 25 mi  1 hour ride to the dealer for a oil filter, its 83 here so the trans got hot enough, idling in my driveway it had a very slight noise.

I will be out of town until sat 4-23 so no updates till after that.

I always use Amsoil 20-50 in the Engine and primary AND Amsoil 75-140 Severe gear oil in the Tranny.  I will update when I hit 1000 miles and change everything out, IF IT EVER STOPS RAINING!

i'd like to hear from those who might be running something other than syn3.  i have been told that there are better things to run in the trans than syn3.  other folks have said that syn3 is only good for the engine itself and to keep it out of the primary.  its time for my 1000 mile service and i was interested to hear the opinions of CVO owners before i just go with syn3.  thanks!

did the 1000 mile service today.  Syn3 in engine & primary.  redline in the trans.  we'll see how it goes.

2011 SESG  2,600 miles     Redline test update
Changed engine oil from SYN3 to redline 20W60, did a 125 mi ride in 85 florida heat. No real change in noise BUT, the hot idle oil pressure was up 3-4psi, with SYN3 engine HOT idle pressure was low about 5-7 psi with 20-60 it is now a steady 10psi!! I am pleased with the Redline 20W60 and trans oil/with shockproof.  The cost is the same as Syn3 so for me I am a Redline guy now, until I get a bug up my a** to try something different!
Food for thought
