The '06 Ultras are done in order (can't speak for others), the VIN's are different from a regular Ultra, we have 2 bikes in the registry one after the other.  We were also told this by one of the folks at the factory, sorry don't remember her name, but she was standing next to the line of CVO Ultra's being built, so I hope she knows something about them, she said she inspects em or something, and yes she did tell the higher ups about a problem with the paint....

Anyways, as for my '07 rumors, The MoCo is dissolving the CVO line completely, due to EPA regulations they don't want to ruffle any feathers and feel that the best option is to just dissolve the whole line.....sorry guys, it was nice while it lasted.........all the baggers are getting a detuned Revo motor and 4 speed trannies.......Sportsters will become the MoCo's flagship bike with a new Hybrid Diesel/Electric and Ridley inspired automatic drive.....

The 2006 CVO Ultra's will become collector items, prices will jump 3 fold before the end of 2006, 4 fold for the Green/Black combo being the most rare of the production.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] If you'd like to get one before this happens, I'm putting mine up for $100,000 right now, first come first serve.......

Hmmm. The above surely gives truth to the statement......

Last year the dealers were advised to sell off their Dynas before the new models were unveiled.  Given the changes I can see why.  The dealers were given similar advise regarding the V-rod this year.   ?????

For what it is worth ( not much!) I was just told by a dealer that we buy a lot of bikes from for our trike conversions, Harley told him he needs to sell off all of his FL bikes, you don't want to have any in stock when the new ones show up........

Like I said.....for what it is worth.

Get ready for the 6-speed and closed loop system introduction to the touring family.

Willie Davidson was on the tube last night in a very recent interview for a series titled American Made. At one point in the interview he alluded to some significant new models "sitting in my office" which he wouldn't discuss. Okay, I'm only reporting what I saw without conjecture. I'm sure the program will be repeated check your channel guide for MSNBC Watch it yourself

If not for '07, then '08 for sure:  Water cooled 100 inch version of the Revolution for Touring bikes, set up to run on E85 fuel (fire up the stills!), with a six speed trans and centrifugal clutch.  To ease the faithful into the transition, H-D will keep the "hinged in the middle" 1970's frame design, inefficient "batwing" fairing, and those lovely but mostly useless gauges (the fuel gauge can be augmented by an optional aviation-type sight glass in place of the low fuel light).  Continuing the aviation theme, the highly useful air temp gauge will become a combination air temp and air speed gauge. A new SYN1000 will be introduced at $30 per quart, and dealers will advise customers that failure to have the dealer do all oil changes using this new product will instantly void the warranty (some things never change).  The Screamin' Eagle brand will become strictly cosmetic, reminiscent of the faux muscle cars of the 80's with racing stripes, louvers, etc., and an anemic four or six under the hood.

Heard today that they are going to partial closed loop systems (like on the 06 Dynas) for the rest of the range.  Closed loop to 4K rpm then open loop up to redline.  How the heck do you tune it if you make mods?

fatboyse2,

It will have to be tuned the same way they are now - aftermarket EFI controller or a PC with O2 sensor eliminators.  I doubt you will see any H-D "stage" downloads available.

Hi jfscheck,
Per many posts on this website and many articles in magazines like American Iron it is technically illegal by EPA regulations for 2006 motorcycles to have their intakes, engines or exhausts modified. If caught on the street with a modified bike by a fed you could get a $10,000 a day fine yourself and also the same fine for the shop who did the mods for you.
"fear of future smog checks" is kind of a personal thing that can only be answered by you. ;D  I understand several locations across the country are considering making bikes conform to local standards for smog checks and that could affect your ability to get an inspection sticker or register your bike. If you decide to modify your bike you may want to just keep the stock parts in case you have to convert back to stock.
I think local law enforcement will be too busy to deal with the issue on a daily basis but you can never tell when someone get's an idea to "enforce the law" and you are a convienient target. Think of the area you live in and are city fathers concerned about air quality, noise pollution or maybe have something against bikers?

Va, Is that law for all 06's or 06's built in 06? My Dealer thought it was the later.

Hi tunedse2,
From what i have read it applies to model year 2006 not the production date. :(
I think most dealers are doing business same as usual because it brings in money and they have to get rid of their inventory. Also many dealers and riders have the "what are the odds of getting caught?" mentality. I agree that the odds are microscopic but again I think it is up to the individual to decide if they like the odds or are willing to be the "test case" in court.
We all should stick together to protect individual rights and freedoms but we have a responsability to police ourselves and be good ambassadors for biking or the negative things will come back to bite us. I know it's not as much fun as riding but we all need to get involved in groups that support the political side of biking to show the politicians that we are not just a small group of crazy people. ;D

Hi SEULTRA,
I noticed the word "departed" in your comment. I hope it wasn't because someone did come to get him. :'(

Do the locations Ruby Ridge or Waco ring a bell? [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]
Be careful what you wish for! :-X

Oh well enough thread jacking for now! 8-)

I think 2007 will have some minor changes that will advertised as major improvements but the MOCO is just biding time until it relatively perfects the Vrod type engine for the touring lineup. They will not spend major development dollars on something like a larger air-cooled motor since it will be hard to meet EPA standards in the near future.
Let's enjoy them while we got them I say! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]
