I hear you grc. But when you look at the bang for your buck out of that 110" kit and the fact that the parts are actually "Harley" parts and there is a better chance than not that you can still have warranty related issues addressed, I think it's a good deal. Almost everyone spends 2G on the pipes,intake,and Power commander or whatever other tuner they go with to pick up a whopping 10hp on these engines and there is some question as to what that does to your warranty, but I've never had a problem. My 110" has been torn apart 3 times under warranty and then finally replaced totally. I have almost 20,000 miles on this last engine with no problems, which is why I havent done the kit..... yet, but I think I will.
As far as what an officer of a delaership can do for you, I'm not sure what that means. I'm about as high as you can go in a Ford/Lincoln Dealership, without actually owning the place, and I could sign whatever you want. Won't help you when you are broken down 3,000 miles from my store and the local dealer where you are says he won't give you warranty. Might help you if I turn you down for warranty and you decide to try and take me to court.
A manufacturer is going to have a hard time denying you warranty repair on your chrome peeling or ABS not working because you put a supercharger on your engine or you put suntan oil in your crankcase because there was no "SYN 3" available.
I guess the biggest concern on doing mods on most of these CVO's is that they are more often than not a touring machine, and if you use the bike for just that, being broken down 2 days from home with or without warranty sucks, no matter how you look at it. I guess I just look at the premium that we paid to have these machines(half of it is cosmetic and half is performance) the performance side is pretty weak, if you ask me. I've had 8 Ultra's now and the last two have been CVO's. I think until you can get those things up over 100 HP, all you really have is a nice paint job and some extra chrome you didn't have to buy after you bought the bike.
