More on modulators.  I purchased mine from Kisan Tech.  Their website is kisantech.com They make several models that are specific for Harleys.  There is no splicing.  The hardest part is finding a location for the light sensor that disables the modulation in the evening.  You can drill a hole and install it permanently or if you can't bring yourself to do that (and I couldn't) you can use a wire tie and lash it to the brake or clutch cable.  This vendor has given our HOG chapter a 10% discount.  I am sure he would do likewise if there is enough interest in his product.

Should you decide against a modulator, I read an interesting article.  The gist of it was, if given the choice of using your low beam and passing lights verses high beam only, use the high beam because that light will be more visible to oncoming traffic.

As you can tell, I am big on modulators.  If anyone has any question or has problems with an install give me a pm.

Hey IROAR, do you remember who did the article?  :-/ Was it just someone's opinion or was there some sort of research/measurement done?  It's of particular interest to me since the passing lamps appear (to me, anyway) to be extremely bright.  If a bike is using them at night riding behind you they seem to blind you in the mirrows just as much as high beams will......... This is just my opinion based on 40 years or ridin

People see the motorcycle, hear the motocycle, but they don't give a F_ _ _ about the motorcycle.

I have been cut off by people looking right at me. Been run over by someone who blew their horn at me as they passed me in an intersection. Been left turned by someone who flashed their lights at me.

There is no safety device made that can make STUPID CAGE DRIVERS SMART

Of course, as I said, that just my opinion

I have the modulating headlight, got in from Kurakyn. Works great! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] I have had people pull over before, I guess they thought I was someone important. ;D I even had people tell me something was wrong with my headlight, it's shorting off and on. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Spyder, I too like all three lite up front but the headlight going on and off catches there attention. I believe 2lane wired his up so when he uses high beam it doesn't cut out his spot lights. I planned on doing that too but never got around to it. In the back I went with the saddlebag and tourpak spoilers to give more light to the back. I also added the brake light, tail light kit to the king pak. I have the panecea tail lamps that flash 5 times then stay lite so I added a modulator to the tourpak lights and they flash too! Like a sunrise yellow bike ain't bright enough. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Well, at least I haven't been rear ended. I like being lite up like a Christmas tree, after all, I'm riding one of my favorite gifts, my Banana! [smiley=banana.gif]

That is the really what "safety" is all about.  It ain't about being seen or heard (though I do both), it's about getting the other stupid sh$t to value my life more than losing his.

What brand and part number of modulator did you install on the tour pak?  What was required in the installation?  Does it work daytime only?

Must be age related,  but I don't recall where I read it.  I do remember the author challenging each rider to stand at some distance with lights in each of the two positions and see for themselves which provided the greater visibility.  If our passing lights were adjusted to the same height as the high bream perhaps riding with low beams and passing lights would be even better.

Spiderman, I think it was you who commented about the cycle unfriendly environment in Phoenix.  According to USA Today polls, Phoenix drivers trailed only Miami for the title of most rude motorists.

JR......that is about the nicest looking 05 SEEG, from the rear, that I've saw.  I'm with you, I want to be seen from the back (I've had two partners killed by drunk drivers and two others hurt all from seperate rear end collisions).  That's why I put the saddle bag spoilers and tour pack spoiler on mine.  Jim (hd-dude) wired mine so that I have running lights, break lights in all three and turn signals also in the saddle bag lights.  Then he wired the bike's turn signals into the brake lights, also.....just changed the lenses to the red....however, they don't have the same intensity as the LEDs.   That baby is lit up when I get on the binders.  But I'm also liking the looks of the tour pack side and corner marker lights, too.  Hmmmm............. Here ya go bro. I got it from kriss. I got part # from Darrellh, a member on this site. I used # BL3012 to get my running lights to flash with panecea brakes. Will be looking to add tour pak lites into turn signals too. Install was easy, they give you a diagram and Darrellh laid won out for us too. You can look under old thread "Spoiler Flasher" around Feb 12th 2005, 5:07pm.
Here is link to website. Cost was $79.95 http://www.kriss.com/harleyapplication.htm

This is not a daytime modulator, it comes on with brake application, ofcourse the front headlight is daytime modulator. Check out the website, they may have what your looking for. See Ya, God Bless!

Well JC, I'm going to have to buy ya a cold beverage when you come to Memphis for saying that! ;D How come Jim isn't coming down, I could use that sweet set up you got with my LED's. Also would like to have his LED's on the engine! Looks good bro, See Ya in a couple few weeks.
