I preffer to look juuuust over the shield, about an inch. That way when the rain hits I can still see clearly and the rain will hit the shield and follow the airflow over my head.

I find that rain does not follow air flow so well and I still get rain coming down onto my face. I have to duck down pretty far and look well through the shield to avoid the rain.

I had that problem with the taller 16" stock shield and I hated trying to look through the shield. since going to a 10" shield I have not had that trouble. The rain now goes right over me -- unless it's really coming down then there is no avoiding it.

IMO WHO NEEDS A WINDSHIELD?  I do have one however it was from the first guy that had originally bought the bike and let it sit in his garage. That is where the windshield stays in the garage. Had the windshield on once just because you can't knock it till you try it well i tried it and forget that! IF I WANTED TO SEE THE ROAD FROM BEHIND A WINDSHIELD I WOULD JUST DRIVE MY PICKUP!!!!!!!!

Still running the 3" stock tinted screen that came on the SEEG so I definitely look over it, but rain is not the only thing it throws up over your face.  A big-azzed buzzard flew up out of the woods near Charleston, SC on the way to Daytona last Fall and hit the windscreen, leaving a softball sized round blood circle with hair/feathers/etc embedded and all went over my head...guys behind me ducked and missed it barely also (we were booking and riding tight).  Interstate riding all kinds of crap hits the screen and deflect over your head even tho the wind hits the top of the helmet barely.  Same shield for 75K miles w/o a bad scratch.  They're tough.  spyder

I look over at night or in the rain. I look thru on interstate to avoid neck strain and buffeting. On the Harley I have shield height so I can strech to see over or scrunch to see thru. On my BMW I press a switch and the shield moves. What could Harley be missing?

Definitely over. Stock cvorgu is perfect height for me (about 2" below eye level) but have heard good things about recurve shields so exploring options

I guess I'm the exception. I'm a high mileage rider and the protection I get from looking through is worth it. I'm so used to it that there is no distortion at all. When it's raining I duck down low and close until I'm through it. When I bought my cvo SG last fall, I took it out for a test ride on the freeway and got so battered with wind I cut the ride short, went home and put a new 12 inch lightly smoked Freedom Shield on and what a difference it made.

Over.  I changed the stock to a Clock Werks 16" with the wave. The wave pushes the air up 2 or 3 " to eliminate the buffering on my "11 SERG

Had to laugh the other day. A guy passed me without a windshield. His cheeks and neck were flappin' faster than my pantlegs.

I know I get more wind buffeting but I like an unobstructed view of the road.

Curious to see what other riders with windshields prefer...........

I happier looking over.  Though the worst is when the top of the windshield is right at eye level.

Been looking through glasses for years, first shield was back in 98' for over 25years I couldn't see having one! Then again I prefer to ride without my helmet! Been a lucky rider for over a million miles, love my FLHX first fairing ever at 5'6" the 4" windvest works well, still not loving my helmet!
