Just put a 16" Windvest on my Road Glide Ultra.  Original shield wind hit me in the top of the helmet.  The Windvest pushes the air up and over!  At 6' 3" the 16" is just below eye level.  Smoke color looks great. :2vrolijk_21:

I like to look over about 1 inch when the weather is good, but when the BUG's are bad they can knock you off the bike at higher speeds ;D. There is nothing worse than catching a big ripe Junebug right between the eyebrows, forehead, or on the nose. Not to mention a rock from another vehicle.
Believe me if you cant hide behind the winshield while riding through the farm fields or desert in the evening you may never get where you are headed. This seams to happen when they just come over the top of rim and SMAAK. :o

Well, this poll wasn't even close.  :o

Among the group I ride with...I am the ONLY one who looks over the shield.  :confused5:

It may be that in the group you ride with you are the smartest one.
Over for me.

I already answered over for me but will add that the wife looks over also or her SG. My buddy on his ultra limited is well under the shield and looks king of odd in the rear view mirror.

BTW a Junebug to the head does happen.

That's another reason I wear a FF (modular) helmet.

It's just a little pain. :huepfenlol2: A rock could be more serious. :'( On another thread we talked about helmet and have to say I like the more open feel of the half helmet with goggles or glasses.

I recall a month or so back riding through Alabama(your place) it was great sport dodging the cicadas.

About chin height works for me. Anything higher gets in my line of vision when riding in hill country. Nothing worse than the top of the windshield splitting your vision when your going over a hill in deer country.

I used to have a 6'' Windshield which was great for around town. I know have a 8'' with the recurve. Works great and is about the same level as my nose. So...I look over and prefer it that way. The windshileds are great for protection, but they take away from the 'riding free' concept. I enjoy all the wind hitting (on short trips).  ;)
