Newbie SERG exhaust question. Rinehart slipons?
« on: May 17, 2011, 07:00:03 PM »

Hello to everyone.  Thank you to the contributers, you all really helped me make my descision for my purchase of a 2009 CVO Roadglide.

Now for the question.  My bike is stone stock and the pipes are too quiet. I'd like some suggestions for new pipes. I'm thinking slip on's but not sure.  My previous SE Electraglide, I put a Bassani Power curve on with a zippers tuner and I wasn't happy with the result.

I'm leaning toward Rinehart slips?

Congrats on the SERG. My buddy has a 09 SERG with V&H true duals with Rinehart 3 1/2"
slip-ons. I believe it has a hd download on it. It runs great, nice and cool, has a nice bark to it. He said he heard the 4" on a 110 SESG2 with the true duals and said the were deeper than his. Do it and don't look back.

Welcome to the forum. Dont' forget the obvious- you need to get rid of the cat in your headpipe. I have the Fullsac x pipe, Rinehart 4" slip ons, and TTS Mastertune tuner with a map from Fullsac, and mine runs great- I recently took it in for a custom tune, only to have the tuner tell me to leave it alone, as the hp/tq curves were excellent.

Fullsac is the most popular option around here, and with good reason- great bang for the buck and great support. Best to do some research by searching previous topics.

Also let us know how loud you want it. Best to check out other peoples bikes at the local hangouts and see which slip ons sound the best to your ears.

Btw, I love my Rinehart 4" slip ons- for you, don't even consider the smaller 3 1/2" slip ons- they don't sound as deep, and won't fill the bag cut outs on a SERG as well.

Which colour SERG did you get?

Thank you for the replies.  I ended up  with the Silver Stardust color.  I wanted Orange but couldn't find one....I like the 4' Rineharts and then I'll give fullsac a call as well.  Thank you.  So I do need to delete the cat and a new programmer?

SE_Roadglide_09, Fulsac is the way to go. It is easy, not that pricey, and if you take long trips the sound will be just right.CAHDBIKER

Hello and Welcome, SE_Roadglide_09,

Chaulk up another vote for Fullsac.  You might want to read these threads:

Removing a Catalytic Converter form 09 CVO Road Glide

I think you'll find that spending $400 plus on a set of aftermarket cans is a lot of money for very little.   :nixweiss:

Your cat is a large obstruction that impedes your exhaust flow. If u want it to run cooler, perform and sound better, find a catless 09 headpipe or go for the Fullsac x pipe.

You have a beautiful bike, spend the weekend at a HD dealer and listen and look at systems.  Full Sac is either the best product in the world, or they pay spiffs or give a pack of kool aide with the product, personally I never heard of them prior to this site.  Since your asking the question, look and listen, find the look and sound you like best.  If you plan on racing the bike from street light to street light, then consult a couple of performance specialist and get your checkbook out.  Best advice that will have 100% consesus, is GET RID of the CAT and replace the head pipe too!  Good Luck, be patient and get it right the first time!

Thanks.  You are right about getting it right the first time.  I took the bike out for the first long ride today and it was HOT behind my right leg...I guess from the CAT.  Oddly enough...a guy stopped me at the light and said "awesome bike...but man it is quiet!"  "You need loud pipes around here son!"...

That being said...I like loud pipes so the concensus is fullsac pipes caramic coated slip and on mufflers??

I would take a look at D&D they have a nice 2 into 1 system that sounds loud and deep and makes great power with stock and modified setups so the system will grow with you as you make other engine and ignition mods.

Ok, here you go, but find them and listen to them for yourself before buying them.  Rinehart 4" with performance baffles are loud, V&H high outputs good pipe nice sound, D&D Fat Cats great performance pipe I've only heard them on a 96" I thought they sound tinny.  Kerkers/Supertraps good pipe nice sound.  Best advice, go listen, there are so many brands that aren't mentioned.

Here is where I'm leaning after the replies.  4" Rineharts, Fullsac ceramic x pipe with the downloader...I think its the Stage One Sleeper kit.  I'm not going with the grinding the baffles out of the stocks.  I sat on an 06 SE Ultra Classic with Rineharts and almost bought the bike for the sole reason the pipes sounded so good.
