Ken,
You're very welcome; good luck with your installation. I spent the $70 for the air deflectors just to be able to mount the headset connector in the left one. Frankly, having the connector mounted close to the seat nose on the gas tank was not a significant cosmetic issue for me, nor is the stalk on the left side interior to the saddlebag for the passenger connector and PTT/vol. switch even though I use a solo seat/no passenger pillion and no tour pak mounted 95% of the time. But my perspective was heavily influenced by the alternatives (different tank console to accommodate the rider headset connector and a permanently mounted tour pak for the passenger headset connector and PTT/vol. switch) which were not going to work for me.
Incidentally, I rode 1500 miles to and from Rolling Thunder with a group and used the newly relocated headset connector all the way, and it worked just fine--no problems. I'm glad I have the J&M Elite series headset/mic so I didn't have to disconnect the cord from the connector (J&M uses two cord segments) each time I got off the bike.
Good luck with your installation.
Carl
