My 2009 110 has a clicking noise for about the first two miles of driving after sitting for a while. She has 36,000 miles on her. I'm assuming it's the lifters.

Could be... how long does the ticking last?

Do you let it idle until the ticking goes away?

Last about 2 miles. I let it idle for about a minute before taking off

Yeah, it seems that harley lifters have become a routine maintenance item...to be changed out at a certain mileage (or else)  Some are saying 50K miles, others sooner.  Makes no sense to me, but I didn't and learned a very expensive lesson on the 103.  Had to replace more than just the lifters. :(  spyder

Wood lifters are known to do that (and Bob Wood mentions that tendency in his literature) due to design choices.  If you're running regular Harley lifters, however, it is not normal.  So yes, you might want to have it checked out.

Out of warranty so it's my bill. Should I stick with stock?

No I would not go with the stock replacement! The older style lifters I think they are called B lifters are better and priced right but woods makes a nice lifter also but pricey.

I did Muddy, but I'm sure there are lots of different opinions on this as all things.  I've heard that some are bad right out of the box, so I'm not sure that any brand is bulletproof.  I just think they should last longer than they do.  Seems like more & more of the internal engine parts are becoming routine maintence items for replacement if you put many miles on these scooters.  Soon we'll back to the annual tear-down & refresh of the ole days.  :-[  aaaarrgh.  spyder

36,000 miles and looks like I'll get them replaced. The 2012 CVO will be out in two weeks. I might take a look.

The moco makes screamin eagle tappets, part no. 18572-07 that list for $270 for 4 of them. The say they are made for durability in high lift cams & high rpms. Don't know how they compare to stock. They are stock in my 120R engine.

I just changed mine out (at 9000 miles) because I couldn't stand the racket any longer.  Stock ones looked fine on removal, but the noise was awful.  I replaced them with Feuling HP+ lifters, recommended by Don2L of this parish.

This is a case where looks is a very small part of the issue.
It's how they work that matters.
