Since we're muddying up Jock's thread with technical garble (Jock.....where are you?).....might as well ask this question:
When I look at my photos on my lap top here at home or on my lap top at work the pictures are so much more clearer than when I post them to this forum. Is there a setting on this forum that I can change to see the pics in the same clarity? I'm wondering what I'm missing on others photos?
I think Jock is linking the photos here to Flickr, so it's not the same as saving them in the required size for posting "normally". To my knowledge, there is no setting on the site to allow posting pics larger than a given size. I'm not sure if Jock is doing any post processing to the photos, or if they are just jpegs coming straight out of the camera. I can't speak for him, but I'll bet he's got his jpeg photo settings in camera set to "enhance" the colors a bit...ie saturation, contrast, etc. The photos he's posting look a lot like old Fuji Velvia slide film, which had saturated colors...my personal choice of film for many years, and my incamera settings for jpeg pics are very similar in look/feel to these.
You might also consider getting a color calibration device for your monitor...Spyder is a good brand. My big screen monitor for my desktop is calibrated.
