That was on my 2003 RG, on the new SERGU and the stock tire I got 15K. I pulled into San Jose basically grounded @ 16000 ish miles.

JC I am wondering how you would get 5K out of your rear tires. :huepfenjump3:

For myself, I understand how he could  get 5K better than 15K........

I have  never have reached 15, but have gotten as little as 8K.

I have an '07 SEUC and only get about 5,000 miles out of a back tire (dunlop 402).  I was told that was to be expected of this bike, though!  I also downshift a lot.

I also engine brake on my 08 CUSE, but I get 13-14k on my OEM type rear Dunlop and that has been consistent in 52000 miles so far.

I just changed out my second rear and first front at 11,000 miles. I'm probably doing all the fun stuff that reduces tire life, like downshifting into corners, and living on a road with lots of twisties -- but just lovin' it! Keeping tire pressure in the 36/40 range and check it frequently, so don't think that is a problem.

11K on the front?!?!  That sucks!  I get 24K on my front.  Only on my 3rd front since new (now @ 52K miles).  Oh wait, you got the new frame? Mine is the 08.

No. I should have mentioned it's on my 07 Ultra Classic. I could have gone a little further with the front tire. The rear needed to be changed again and I was at Sturgis, so it was a good opportunity to get it done. I put a set of Avons on. I'll see how they last.

Something sounds out of alignment.....we have the same frame...you should get much more mileage on the front.  I use OEM HD Dunlops and get great mileage.

I've used OEM Dunlops up to now too. I don't think there are any alignment issues. I have it up on the jack on a regular basis and think I would have seen anything out of the ordinary. I think it's more to do with the rough pavement on the scenic roads I ride close to home. Maybe riding style too!

Well, finally had to change my rear tire out on the limited.  Wasn't sure how I faired on mileage, so came back to the site to do a bit of post change research.

2/32 left on the tire (dead center) and reasonable cupping was evident.  With the wet season comming up, decided it was time.  7801 miles, probably could have gotten a bit more, but was in to get the 7500 service and brake switch recall done.  Figured it was a no brainer to switch the tire at the same time.

Front is doing ok.  It was between 4/32 and 5/32 with no major cupping issues.

I'll admit, I downshift a ton and accelerate hard (typical to enter freeway at wot or near wot -- actually whenever it's safe to go from 0 - speedlimit +10, I generally seem to be at wot), but never to the point of breaking the tire free noticeably.  Oh, and about 70% of those miles were done following JC.  :D  :2vrolijk_21:

Also had engine work done but not sure how much of that contributed, given that it was only for the last 2800 miles of the tire life.  Given what I read in another thread a while ago; and this one, I think I'm ok with the tire wear.  Hope to get a bit more out of this one knowing a bit more about what is probably causing my wear.

Now to see just how long the front holds out.   :nixweiss:

I get average mileage on my tires as I do ride aggresive & almost always two-up. I went thru (3) sets on my 09 RG & the rear cups out always & sounds like a mudgrip after 7000 miles. I always check tire pressure before riding & they werent out of balance. It's always puzzled me & I have friends with 09 up bikes that rear do the same. ( original 407 fronts cupped but warrantied)

Same here. I replaced both tires at 10,000 because of cupping. The new 408 front is doing much better and the 407 rear is about gone at 14,000. Both rear tires started cupping and making noise at 6,000 miles. Right now, my rear tire has more cupping edge than actual tread depth.

When I heard about dual compound tires, my first thought was, this design won't work. How the heck can these tires wear evenly for everyone if I'm riding twisties in the mountains and somebody else is riding the flat straight roads in the midwest ? They don't know how many turns are on the road I'm riding on !

I personally spoke to a CVO rep from the moco about the 407, 408f (09 & up) tire cupping issues. He claims he never heard of such a thing. :-\
