What's a fair price to have the lids painted?

Those look great, I guess the extra paint Vivid black and labor to do the logs was the diff. I still think $300 is a deal for the
cvo color though. Nice work!!!

Had my 2011 FLHXSE2 done with the 2012 hd lid speakers....I looked around and thought HD had as good a looking set up as any of the aftermarket lid speaker combos out there. Love the upgrade and sound....... Had the amp problem like soooooo many owners of the same model. Got tired of swapping amps head unit and speakers and still having problems, so I went with Hawg Wired amp and speakers for the factory stuff and polk marine for the lids. Harley lids, grills and baskets. Sound is sick.

My friend who did all of the wiring and fitting also ran down to the dealer and had the fade function added to it. 6 pin duetsch(sp) for the connectors out of the bags. Also speaker wires tied in with the lid spoiler lights. Clean connect/disconect of the bags.

I went to a couple of local paint shops with the lids and asked if they could match the paint. the first guy said sure for $200. He quickly discovered it wasn't so easy to match so he passed. The second place also said "sure, no problem" but I was certain they would pass too. They needed only 4 days and they did a great job. It was a cash deal so no tax just $300. The paint match is perfect.

Doh! Spent about 4 hours put the speakers and grills together and finished saddlebag lids. Now wipe them down and get my finger prints off and I find this!!!!!!!!! Looks like the clear puckered or split?

Since this thread was started, a couple of new products have become available.

First, HD is offering its saddlebag speaker lids color-matched.  Although I'm no expert on CVO color names, Autumn Haze, Krptonite, and Electric Orange are among the colors offered on HD's website:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448777401&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302491575&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302491575&bmUID=1329779779670&bmLocale=en_US

At a list price of $299 per lid, they aren't cheap, but should provide a decent solution for those concerned about the color-match.  Unpainted the lids are $119 ea., so painted represents a $180 delta--not bad in my experience especially for CVO colors for which there are no easily available PPG matches.

Interested persons may find other CVO colors among the new HD offerings.

Also, as reported by TIF2, Hybrid Audio Technologies will be introducing "drop in" speakers for the HD saddlebag speaker lids in both 2 ohm and 4 ohm impedance versions.

Great now they come out with them! I think that's about what I got into mine but have a custom logo one off! Those don't say they come with the grills? I think i read they are sold seperatly or with their speaker set. Hopefully he can quickly fix it and I won't have any other problems. Let's hope anyway! These guys were picked because they advertised they could paint in CVO colors.  :nixweiss:
