Our 2004 FLHTCSE project is finally ready to roll!
« on: July 08, 2011, 05:22:42 PM »

Picked up this bike about 5 weeks ago knowing it needed some reconditioning due to a general lack of use combined with chrome issues and oxidation from sitting for 4 years under a cover on the Carolina coast. This bike only had 5000 original miles on the odometer.

Anyway after ~120 hours of wrenching, cleaning and polishing here's a few photo's shot indoors after she came off the lift late last night.

Here's a partial listing of what the project has entailed to date:

Repair and repaint front fender (smashed under in rear) - Cliff's Body Shop Scotia,NY
Corbin seat
PM wheel package - Coastal Moto
Yaxle (chrome domino)
V-Twin fork leg end cap
Kuryakyn Panecea Smoked Taillight
Kuryakyn Boss Clutch & Brake Lever's
Candlepower Headlight
MOCO Halogen passing lamps
K&N Oil Filter
Mobil 1 V-Twin Oil Change
K&N Air Fliter
Redline Shockproof Heavy in the tranny
Redline MTL in the Primary
New MOCO Battery
New turn signal bulbs all around (smoked Panecea's on backorder)
Hog Tunes speakers
Tune Trapper hidden antennae
Buckshot Mirrors
Rider Footboard inserts
Passenger Footboard inserts
Stealth Grips
Derby Cover
Timer Cover
Layback license plate and frame
Wolo disk horn
Rinehart end caps
Exhaust clamps
Radio bezel
Indicator bezel

All MOCO parts came from Baer's HD in Honesdale, Pa and all aftermarket parts and supplies came from Rob's Cycle in N. Syracuse, NY. And a big thank you to Ron Berry from here on CVO Harley for a great deal on the Rinehart end caps.

The bike also has a matching chopped detachable tour, the jugs and heads are diamond cut and my friend who sold it to me claims "the motor is stock" (spoken with a Southern drawl reminding me of Otis and the HBRR's). I can tell you after taking her out for a late night spin the motor is not stock its pulls harder then any bike I've owned.

This was really only phase 1 of this bikes rebirth as we have another list of mods and upgrades already started for this winter.   :2vrolijk_21:

Where's the first ride headed?

Don,

Around the Adirondack's and Finger Lakes region as we are staying somewhat close to home this weekend as she's never riden a bike with a fairing and wouldn't let me put a windshield on her Sportster or the Fat Boy. I'd put them on ahead of our longer trips and she'd yank them back off as she prefers to be in the wind.

She'll need a day or day to get use to riding behind the fairing and using the radio controls and cruise control, etc.

Hoping we can get down to the Dragon or Maggie Valley this year before the snow flies.

Sounds like a wonderful break-in ride.  Enjoy the run and will look forward to hearing about a great first ride.
