Saw a new 12 Street glide today, was sure sharp in the slate but I'm a road glide guy.  The sound system is killer on the 12 CVO street glide, great sound.

I'm not a fan of the sculls at all.  However I am a fan of the road glide, and its time for a new one.  So I put a deposit down on a white/black which will come in mid to late august with the ability to move the deposit to the blue or maple if the white does not do it for me.

I like the fact that this year the tour packs chopped and king in the P&A book have matching graphics.

Sucks that you can not up grade the sound system to match the cvo street glide.  All the parts are available, just does not work with FLTRSE3, FLTRXSE or the previous Street glide CVOS.

Why doesn't it work? Is it wiring, an amp? I can't imagine why its not possible.

Not sure, but that is what the big P&A book for 2012 said.  It is also what the new Audio catalog said.  Would love to figure out why.

Been off the site for awhile.  Great looking SE 2012's but still think the FLHXSE 2010 Tequila Sun is the best color.  Rides so well I'm taking it from San Antonio to El Paso and back to complete my Iron Butt run. When I'm done I'll probably have a shot or two of Tequila.   :drink:

I would have to agree, I cannot imagine it is impossible to do.  Probably is not plug and play.  For it to be plug and play there would have to be wiring from the stereo back to the rear of the bike, with connections for the right and left, unamplified, speaker outputs.  Along with power to run the amplifier off of.  So as long as you are willing to run those wires yourself I cannot see why you could not add the amp and speakers to the RG or any previous SG, even non CVO versions.

The 2012 CVO street glide set up, which is available in the P&A will work with a regular street glide.  It will not work with the 10 or 11 CVO Street Gilde and it will not work with the FLTRSE3 or the FLTRXSE.

Not sure if it is because the head units are different than the non CVO bikes, or because of the way the amps are configured in the CVO bikes.

I am sure there is a way around it.  Just have to figure out why or what is different about them first.

My guess is since the CVOs all have their speakers connected to the output of the amp in the fairing, you cannot use those speaker wires to feed the rear amp, or you would over drive it.  But as long as you can find a place to connect into the right and left channels that feed into the existing amp and use those to feed the 2nd amp, it should work fine.

It WILL work with the 201 SESG.. see the attached table for the P&A

Glad they finally got some good colors (orange and yellow) with some pop on the ultra. Colors have been
to bland and to dark on the ultra. Just no contrast. Also glad they took the flames off. Flames are for
hot rods not luxury tourers.

The street glide looks great. 8 speakers will sound awesome. For years we have been disappointed with
the MoCo for lagging behind the aftermarket with upgrades and now they have speakers in the saddlebag
lids. Don't put the MoCo down for taking up some space in saddlebags. This is not a long distance two up
touring machine. It is a hot rod. If you need more space buy an ultra. Flames also look great on it.

I think the flow of the body work from front to back on the  road glide looks the best of all the CVO
bikes. Have grown to love the RG. But I am not a fan of the blacked out engine and trim. It looked
good on the krypto last year but not on all colors.

Of course will need to see all bikes in person. Opinions may change after that.

All this is JMHO.

Not a CVO, but I recently saw a 2012 Dyna Switchback at a dealership and was not impressed...

I realize the market that this bike is targeted at and they are attempting to keep the price down, but I feel they really went cheap on this model.

How about everyone else?

I disagree with you on this one... They built this bike perfectly to fit the market,, Woman getting into the Harley riding sport''' and i think Harley hit the target.. I was in Guidera's yesterday and they have a red one on the floor getting a lot of attention. The guys passed by and and basically whimpered 'em''' The woman stopped and had to get on it, and two lined up for test drives.. We were joking it would be sold before the end of the day,, i'll have to find out if it did. The dynas are cool bikes, rubber mounted and smooth, i have a Fat Bob and love it. The Switchback is low and light with the big bike feel, a lot less intimidating then bigger Softails and Touring line..  IMO,, sit back and watch the female gender line up for this one   :2vrolijk_21:

Certainly they hit the nail on the head as far as marketing goes... It is definitely built for riders (both men & women) who feel a touring bike with hard bags is just too heavy for them to handle.

The point of my observation was that the MoCo went cheap on this bike... The wheels and all the casings would have looked much better in chrome IMHO, and would not have increased the price that much.  It is similar to the EG Standard with all kinds of brushed/polished parts rather than chromed.  I would suspect that the ones who purchase this bike will get busy chroming it up but some of the parts will be too expensive to do and they may realize buying a Deluxe and putting hard bags on would be a better way to go.  Both bikes weigh the same, but the Deluxe's seat height is 2" lower, has a bigger tank, has a 2-tone paint option AND has way more chrome!

I'm sure they will sell many of these Switchbacks due to the size and hard bags coming standard - great idea!  But if anyone asks for my opinion, I will be suggesting that they look hard at a Deluxe with all of the chrome it already has.  If they want hard bags, spend the money on dual pipes and painted-to-match bags as a friend of ours did... Very cool looking bike indeed!
