WAY TO GO FLORIDA...... 49 STATES TO GO!!! Florida is the first State that will require drug testing when applying for welfare (effective July 1st)! Some people are crying this is unconstitutional. How is this unconstitutional? It's OK to drug test the people who WORK FOR THEIR money but not those who don't? It's about time :2vrolijk_21:

X2 :coolblue: It's about time someone (Florida) steps up and stops the welfare issues :2vrolijk_21:

I certainly am not judging anyones thought or views on this subject we all have ideas as to what will work and yes just like different types of bikes we all think different things are the right way we are adults and should be able to agree to disagree without hard feelings at all at least that is my position. If I offended or upset anyone then please accept my apology for it none was intended.

Good for Florida, I just wonder where 95% of the welfare will move to...  I wish all states would enforce this as Florida does.  :2vrolijk_21:

They will just come up here to Canada. We love giving free money to who ever steps onto Canadian soil.

Good job Florida. :2vrolijk_21:

Sounds like a wonderful idea.  I wonder if they will extend that idea to all the other programs where certain folks get money from the rest of us.  Wealthy farmers who get subsidies, bankers who get bailed out after robbing the rest of us blind, etc., should also have to submit to drug testing and pass certain morals tests before they take our money.   And don't be fooled by those little old grannies on Social Security and Medicare either; I have it on good authority that many of them are on drugs too.  Cut 'em all off.

The goal behind drug testing and making them work for the "free money" is to break the chain of generations of people who've never worked an honest day raising future generations to do the same and how to game the system.  There should also be a time limit to the benefits as well as no incentive for having multiple children.

If they multiply into numbers that outnumber those of us who work they'll vote themselves in politicians who'll promise to keep them in their slothly lifestyle...like in 2008.  Once we reach that point, the country will be lost or thrown into a civil war with the have nots against the haves.

Hate to burst any bubbles, but the coming civil war will be caused by the greed of the haves, not the have-nots trying to squeak by.  The huge spread between them has gotten bigger and bigger, with not just the poor but also the "middle class" steadily losing ground for a lot of years (decades).  Ignore it or blame all the problems on the welfare system if it makes you feel better.

I personally think any and all folks who receive money from "we the people" should have to meet the same requirements.  If every poor person who applies for aid has to pee in a bottle, then every politician or civil servant should also have to pee in a bottle.  The logistics could get a little dicey, 'cause with all the people receiving money from various governmental entities having to pee in bottles we would be awash in pee waiting to be tested.  On the other hand, look how many more government jobs we could create for lab techs to test the pee.  Of course, they would have to pee in a bottle too to get their jobs and paychecks.  Where does it end?

Being poor is not supposed to automatically make a person a second class citizen in the USA.  When I see the fat cats who constantly have their hands out for freebies from the rest of us peeing in bottles to get their subsidies and huge tax breaks and bailouts, then maybe I'll agree that poor folks should have to do it as well.  Until that time comes, I see no reason to assault the dignity of the poor just to make a bunch of "haves" feel superior.  If the authorities have reason to suspect a welfare recipient is engaging in illegal behavior, they can pursue charges through the legal procedures already on the books, without violating the rights and dignity of everyone else.
