Rotten Thief stole my CVO Sissy Bar & Pad!
« on: July 26, 2011, 07:59:26 AM »

 :'(

I never woulda thought this would happen, but someone decided they liked my CVO short sissy bar & pad that came on my FLTRSE3 and removed it from my
bike in a parking lot.  NEVER woulda thought this would happen.......can you imagine catching someone in the act?  Had a nice H-D American flag on it too....

So that is a problem with "Quick Detach" accessories.

Anyone have a solution to prevent this from re-occuring?  Can't think of any way to lock a quick-detach sissy bar on to the bike........

That sux! I hate thieves. Get several of these, w/ matching locks. They're a PITA under a tour pak though.

I use those as well.......the only solution I found under the tour pack was cutting or bending one.....do you have a better way?

I've been using one of those locks on my TP for several years now, and I basically hacksawed a piece out of the middle of the key and reattached the ends with a sleeve and epoxy.  Otherwise the key is too long, but it's a pretty easy fix.

Unfortunately there are plenty of thieves riding around on Harley's who will take whatever they see that isn't welded on.  Not all of the "outlaw mystique" is based on hype and movies, some of it is real.  Big surprise.

Hey Gattornapper, PM me, I have still have my old backrest ( in perfect condition). Traded my 09 SERG,  for my 11, when I went back to dealer to give backrest to  them, they had already sold bike to an out of state dealer. Point is if you cover shipping you can have mine.

I zip tie my stuff on. It may not lock it on but if you make it as little harder then maybe the will move to the next bike.
Sorry to hear, but this world is full of scum.

Motor1 - This is too good to be true!  I loved that little sissy bar & pad, and normally don't like them.
A miracle in my mind, and you gotta be a great guy to do this.

I just did the same thing last week with an early '70's high sissy bar & pad the came on my '72 Triumph Bonneville that I restored last year....and shipped it to a Triumph
guy that I met on the Triumphrat.net site who wanted it in Pennsylvania!

I'll PM you and give you my address!

You've really made my day, bro!  Cannot thank you enough.....

Aclass - not sure exactly where....I frequently ride the bike without the sissybar, so I didn't miss it
right away.  Think it was at a huge SuperWalMart center where I met a friend for lunch, and parked it
far away from most vehicles - over 200' from any building -  because it was incredibly hot and there was
one tree where I could park it in the shade.

It was so far from any vehicles, a guy could have parked a truck between it and the Walmart to hide his
actions, snatched it in seconds and been gone before someone could have run from the Walmart to the bike.

Will get them ASAP - thanks, man.  Being an "I'll get a bagger when I get old" Wide Glide guy (I'm 66) for so many years, I'm still on the steep side of the learning
mountain when it comes to Touring bikes.  LOTS to learn.

Kinda feel like I'm in a convertible and not really on a motorcycle when I'm on the Road Glide, and darn - it's the most dangerous bike I've ever owned!  I've NEVER
ridden another bike that I can get sleepy on!!!!  :D
