Bob,
I'll tell that hwy 36 is very narrow and alot of very sharp twistie's, if your into that kind of riding it would be fun don't plan on making any time thru it. Hey! got your PM and I'll send you one back about the lodging and eating places up there. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Bob,
About Eureka I'd take the route H-D Dude mentioned thats a good way up from the valley. My Opinion is to stay in Fortuna it's about 10 to 15 miles south of Eureka. It's very quiet and very nice and new Motels, I enjoyed the Best Western you can see it from Hwy 101 coming in. A fun place to eat is just next door The EEl River Brewery lots of different beers to try, if you want some thing alittle nicer just about a mile up the road back on Hwy 101 is a place called Parlota's on the right side of the road. Then in the morning take off and maybe two or three miles up the road is the turn off to Ferndale, a must see very nice old Victorian town. Stop in to maybe eat breakfast at Jeromes right in the center of town.
Hope this helps and we'll see you on the 16th

Thanks Don,
I guess we are booking rooms at the Eureka Best Western. My buddy got his panties in a bunch and threatened to take his gps and go home if we didn't play fair.   :'( I'm just going to let him lay it all out and go with the flow. Would have been nice to get input from the Cali Crew and then decide but oh well.   [smiley=drink.gif]
I'll see you all the 16th.

Bob that would have been a better way to travel in my opnion.  We didn't make reservations (except in Cripple Creek) when we did our ocean to ocean ride, either.    With a GPS it's really a no-brainer......just punch in lodging and it all comes up.

Yea JCZ,

We went across country last summer from Naples to Utah, down to the North rim, across mexico, and back to New Orleans (pre- Hurricane- although we did drink a few while there) without reservations except for Rapid City on the July 4th weekend. Never had a problem and had a blast. I thinks that part of riding- go till you wnat to stop or see somewhere you want to stop. Nothing finer.
