I suggest you turn off any appliances louder than a modern refrigerator, definitely turn off any air conditioners, and you probably should keep all the windows closed just in case anyone passes gas in their sleep.

I find it to be totally ridiculous how elected morons constantly come up with this sort of idiotic crap.  We need to change the rules for candidates to require proof of sanity before they are allowed to run for office.

See below for a chart of various sound levels and some common sources for each level.  Don't forget that the decibel scale is not linear, but rather logarithmic.

We had this issue in CA a few years ago.  Some of the beach cities, including our Newport passed  or tried to enforce existing ordinances which were eventually held to be preempted by CA state laws on the subject.  Still, if you're cited, it's quite a hassle.     >:(   >:(   Did I hear anyone say "boycott?"

These people deliver a lot of lip service to the public.I believe that such laws are enacted without people knowing the effect on the general population, and no idea of what the cost of enforcement is.
It is no wonder that Rhode Island is now noted as the worst state of all for small business.
Anyone have a job for me in a place thats fun to live and less bull?

Won't see any traffic there. The average car @ 35 mph is between 62 & 67 decibels.

This reminds me of a story I read in the Sac Bee a few years ago about a resident living in a Retirement Community that had a small wood workshop in his garage. The Homeowners Community told the resident his workshop was making too much noise so he had to quit working any tools in his garage. The resident said BS and hired a sound proofing firm to come in and sound proofed his garage. This worked for awhile until word got out what he did so the community called fool play and gave him another warning to turn off the tools or he would be forced out. The guy ended up hiring an attorney and filed an harassment suit against the Master Community and also had noise study done while he was working in is workshop, which proofed the outside noise level was almost 0. The Community dropped the noise level complaint then a few months latter found another master community rule which banned residential workshops.. The resident finally gave up and moved out of the Retirement Community swearing never to have anything to do with Master Community
Both of these stories have nothing to due with issue they are complaining about, but all to do with someone to prove they have (or want) "power".  In these instances, the best thing to do is stay away from these idiots, all they do is cause misery.

One of the biggest potential threats to our freedoms doesn't lie with government, but with homeowner's associations.  I'm reminded of the morons who told a veteran he couldn't fly the American flag on his property due to some bogus association rule.  Anyone looking to move into a situation where they have any sort of association or group, be it condo's or planned unit developments or gated communities or some other option, needs to be aware of what they are setting themselves up for.  A man's home is his castle, except when the holier than thou homeowner's associations say otherwise.  Some have found that they can't park a truck in their own driveway after the association decided trucks were too tacky.  Can you imagine how those same lovely folks would view motorcycles rumbling through the 'hood?

BOYCOTT :coolblue:

Boycott hell.  Walk around with a recording decibel meter around city vehicles and/or services and the homes, vehicles and lawn equipment of city officials and start calling in citizens complaints.
