2011 cvo ultra, wheel weights flew off at 70 mph and dented the front fender. they were the original black bar and shield weights. dealership rebalanced the front wheel with black k&l weights, they fell off in the garage floor the next day. Harley is replacing the front fender no questions asked.

Got a call from the dealer yesterday. MoCo released a service bulletin to replace damaged fender caused by wheel weights coming off. Mine is on order. Don't know the bulletin # but will post if I find out.

So, if a person is headed to Sturgis in a couple days, what is the recommendation?  Just remove the weights and run a slightly out of balance tire?  Duct tape over the weights?  Hate to have my weights fly off and destroy a perfectly good fender.... :nixweiss:

09 FLTRSE3 here that threw the front weight around 7000mi.  during decel on an off ramp.  Made a loud clang but got lucky couldn't find any dents in the front fender but found two scratches in my wheel!

It sound like this problem has been around for a while.

I took my bike to the HD dealer for inspection today & am waiting for an answer from his district rep.

At about 3,000 miles, I found two 1/4 oz weights (still attached to each other) on the floor beside the front tire. I could see the spot on the wheel where they were stuck on. Lucky I guess. Threw them on the work bench and forgot about them. 3,000 miles later with no balance problem.

The bar and shiels weights came off the front rim on my 2011 SEUC and damaged the front fender. Harley replaced it no questions asked. I removed the remaining weights from both rims and went with dyna beads.

It's great that the MoCo is replacing fenders, but have they come up with
a wheel weight solution??
I like my Centramatic balancing system.

2011 SESG...rear wheel weight damaged rear fender coming back from Sturgis. Still waiting on MOCO to get back with dealer about replacing rear fender. When I called H-D customer about this they acted like they had never heard of this happening. Hope it gets replaced.

The MOCO is replacing my fender because of damage from wheel weights coming off. Yes they have heard of it. Check out all the threads on dinged fenders.
