I can't understand why they can't replace that useless air temp gauge with an oil temp gauge and get a fuel gauge that is accurate! It amazes me that year after year they put them in there knowing they are junk and don't look to improve. :nixweiss:

They got rid of it totally on the SESG starting in 2011...and the fuel gauge is not that far off.

Good to hear. Mine shows 1/2 a tank then falls to empty before you know it. Thought I heard others still having problems. Glad you don't. :2vrolijk_21:

Sorry guys, but you are better off taking your wish list to Santa Claus than the Motor Company......they retail these CVOs and look the other way....I've owned 6 HD CVOs and have never recieved anything from the Motor Company other the than the apology letter and a free book for the 110 problems...lets see a book that cost maybe 24 bucks and I have spent over $100,000 on CVOs.....go figure...

After getting stuck in NYC Saturday night after my 2008 SE Ultra shut down because it over heated...I was really thinking about a BMW 1800 for my next ride.

I am a manufacturer's rep for a motor home company and we take care of our customers.....

The issues with current CVOs is why I still have a 2008 and have not purchased another one....the Motor Company needs to FIX the issues and produce a $38,000 scoot thats RIGHT.....

Why buy multiple HD bikes  :confused5:

Not sure if that is directed at me but I bought multiple because I like the bikes and have steadily upgraded as my situation has allowed.  My question to people saying the bikes have a horrible build quality and dealer service is why do you continue to buy?

MoCo figured that 50 % of the owners would replace it with an oil temp gauge.  At $150/each for an oil gauge that adds up!  :nixweiss:

Hell, that happens in every car I've ever owned!  I just follow the remaining miles gauge when I get low.  That seems accurate.

I think for a lot of us our relationship with HD is much like a sports fans relationship with their favorite team.  More often then not they let you down, you believe everyone from the owner to the waterboy are complete idiots, and spend the entire year bitching about them.  And yet, you still buy tickets to the games, you spend a fortune on all the team gear, buy whatever ESPN ticket you need so you don't miss a game.  Look at how many sports radio stations there are and it based on having someplace for people to call and complain about their team.  (please see Red Sox, and SEC football fans as an example.)   :huepfenlol2:

For whatever reason these bike touch our souls and are part of our lives (just like our favorite sports team, or our significant other) they aren't perfect, but they are ours and deep down we love em.

Probably not.  I'll deny saying this, but 2 of those 3 things had their best years in the 80's!   :huepfenlol2:  :cucumber:

For ex.--the HOG memebership--anybody who buys a new bike gets a year, maybe the CVO buyer could get some additional years. Not a deserve thing, just a perk....just a thought....

Maybe on the HOG membership you could get it free for as long as you own your CVO.  Your local dealer could verify ownership each year and then extend the free membership for another year.

As Harley gets further and further away from the original low volume concept, a CVO becomes nothing more than a high end option package.  When was the last time you got special perks on a car just because you bought the "Limited" package?  And just between you, me, and the fence post, I don't see a HOG membership being much of a perk.  A day with their recent spokesmodel, however, now that would be a perk worth having.

No it wasn't.  I was just piggy-backing on your very valid point  :)

I have to agree with you.  What company other than Harley has so many people inked-up their skin and wear the HD logo so proudly?  You don't see GM, Ford, Honda, Victory, etc tattoo'ed on folks.  It is a sort of "blind" love but over the years through the HOG chapters my wife and I have been a part of, various dealerships, and this site we have forged some great friendships.  I'll buy again but only after I have done my homework and get what I want out of the deal.

I think one of the best value-added perks they could do is to make it a true "club".
If you pony-up the duckets for purchase, you should be able to purchase any CVO part from any CVO model.

As long as you have a CVO VIN ... you have access to a CVO-only P&A book that contains parts from other CVO models/years.
Now THAT would be cool, and value-added.

Just FYI - they don't restrict model year CVO part changes (must have that model-year specific CVO to purchase) to protect resale.
They do it so you'll buy a new CVO. For example, why can't all MY2011 SESG2 owners purchase the lighted CVO tank console parts that are on the MY2012? It does nothing to protect resale value of either the MY2011 or the MY2012 .... it's just a method to get another $12K ($6K below NADA for your 2011 + $6K profit on the 2012) from their supposedly "best customers".

Crazy that CVO owners are the ones that spend the most on P&A for a bike that is supposed to be tricked from the factory. It's anything but insignificant - don't remember exactly but I want to say something like 70%-80% more on P&A than non-CVO owners?

Give me a CVO-only and CVO-specific (parts from all other models/years) P&A book and I'm a happy camper.

The only problem I sometimes have to deal with is H-D Germany sometimes acts as they know significantly less about their product as my dealer and myself  ;D

Suggested improvements? Better quality management at the factory: in 2006 they sent us an oil pump working the wrong way, in 2010 they sent us 2 (!) cranks out of spec - and that's only the most significant examples ...

100% right, what MoCo, local HD-organisation and dealer don't understand,
is that with "www", information spread faster into every corner of the world,
and they behave, like they are on an island without any communications.
