2011 SEUC Seat Question
« on: August 28, 2011, 11:32:58 PM »

What is the comfort level of your OEM heated 11' SEUC seat? Is it good on long trips? It look different than my 09 seat. Mine sucks on long trips trying to decide if I want to spend the money to switch. Trying to get a count of the most comfortable H-D seat. I am sure this has been run in the ground. I know some will say go with Mustang and some will say Corbin is best. Didn't really like the look of the heated Corbin. I have sat on a 08 SEUC and the seat felt better than mine but wondered if the newer models were better. I think some have even said 08 heated seat is best. Thoughts, comments! Thanks

Edit:To me the 11' seats look and seem to be designed the same as my 09' except mine has some gray material in the center. I called Mean City Cycles several months ago and they do NOT modify the "hammock" SEUC seats, so that is not a option.

Best I have ridden on One Sharp Road King....

 :bananarock:

I put on the heater when my butt is going numb, or put down the pegs and lift the weight off against a backrest...  This makes sort of 650 km day seem OK...
The Backrest clipping in might be just as important, as when the pegs are the right height you can lock your legs on the highway with the weight lifted off your backside and braced against the backrest.  Mind you, not in traffic, but on the big open road, it works really well...  The most I have done so far is a 650 km day.  But that is about 3000 kms this first month of owning BIG BLUE, and I am so in love I will happily ride in the rain...

I know, I need help, maybe medication....  :confused5: :nixweiss:

Cheers, Cowboy

I sure do like mine.
I am a heavy person and it still feels pretty good after a long day of riding.
Only complaint I had is that it separated at the stitches, but the shop warranted it, so all is good.

I have had Corbin sets in the past, and love them.
Had planned on purchasing one when I got the new bike, but after sitting on this one, I find there is no need for another seat.

Just my opinion.

The most I have ridden so far on my 11 SEUC in one day was 800 miles and the stock seat seemed fine. My wife said it was the most comfortable back pillion I have ever owned. She has no issues with the 800 miles which surprised me.

So far, so good, but the longest day I've done is 350 miles.  Wish it was real leather on the seat surface though.  If I have to get a new seat, it will be a Corbin.

I'm also interested in seeing what folks recommend.  The furthest we've done in a day so far is 450 miles, and the wife wasn't particularly happy about seat comfort.  We've ordered the gel seats so we'll see how those work for now but wouldn't mind trying a different seat if there was a consensus about a better one.

I don't know that it's possible to get a consensus of opinion for something like a seat.  For me, there's no question it would be a Corbin, but I've had one before, so I KNOW it's comfortable for my a$$.  Gel pads are not a really good option, IMO, because of hot weather/cold weather riding situations.  Sticking something like an Air Hawk on the seat, while it might be comfortable, looks like crap and defeats the heated seat.  And, from my understanding, you can't get the stock seat reworked by somebody like Mean City because they don't, or can't, do the HD Hammock type seats.  One thing's for sure...if this seat doesn't work out for me in the long run, I won't be giving HD money for any of their other seats, because I'll know they all suck if this one ends up sucking.  So far, this seat is fine...FAR better than the one that came on my '06 SEUC, which collapsed (the foam) within the first 1,000 miles and KILLED my tailbone.  It was replaced with a Corbin, and then 600 mile days were no problem.  But I'd rather not spend 1K plus on a new seat...

The seat on my 2011.5 SEUC is much more comfortable than the stock one I had on my 2007 UC. I will not be looking for a different seat.

That's been a problem on some of the seats...they'll replace it under warranty.

Did a 350 mile run on the stock seat of the 2011SEUC..... comparing the stocker to the HD Sundowner I have on my previous Ultra... the 2011SEUC seat for me, was not good at all.  After 350 mile, saddle sore and cranky--same for my girl.  The Sundowner would take me 600 miles with very good comfort.  Now.....

Did a 550 mile run on stock seat.....to Corbin.  Man, when we arrived, there was nothing more important that getting off that seat!  Picked up my dual tourer, heated seat......much more firm, but after 600 miles, could go another 300......  very expensive, but very comfortable.

No place for sacrifice of cash ---- on the seat --- unless you don't ride much.

That's just me...

I've done 900 mile days, and taken 2 3000+ mile trips on my SE6.  I love my seat.  My passenger hates it, so those trips were solo, but, it is the most comfortable seat I've ever owned.
