Just my opinion, but I would leave the back of that tour pak alone-----------Matches the ass end of your bike perfectly and again , in my opinion, looks absolutely outstanding! Really pretty . I just think it is classy without being cluttered up with some more paint or chrome. You have done a great job.

Tell me more about this Ultra wiring harness you speak.  I have the wrap around LED bar, smoked side markers and LED light for the tour pak on my Krypto bike as well.  Tour pak is mounted on 4 pt detachable bracket but I haven't installed the lights just yet because I've been reading all the installation instructions so I only do it once.

I think the base of the LED wrap around looks fine black the way it came and will leave it that way.  I've seen the chrome and color matched. Neither really did anything for me, but thats my opinion.

Very nice paint job on that tour pack.  To add anything other than the spoiler will take away from that paint job and will take away from the TP matching the bottom half of the bike (see Pic. #4).  Sometimes less is better and this is a great example of that.  JMHO.

Great pictures and views of the pack.   Congratulations on the addition to a beautiful bike.   My hubby has the Black and Slate and just got his chopped pack.   A bit disappointing - almost the entire pack is the Slate color, with just about 1/3 of the sides with the pin-stripping and two-tone.   NO FLAMES on it anywhere.    The hinges were misaligned so the lid  sits too far forward and is rubbing on the paint - not good, but the dealer is replacing it.
Again, great to see so many pictures of the king pack.  HDMC did a great job on coordinating the paint scheme with the bike.   Thanks for the look!  Enjoy.

Ken, beautiful tour pak; HD gets top marks for incorporating the paint from the bike on the tour pak.

Hope you'll elaborate on the "Ultra harness" needed.  The light kit comes with the harness needed to connect to the bike's tour pak harness that you found under the left side cover; it's item 4 in the Service Parts list on the install instructions, page 3:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloads/Service/isheets/-J03690.pdf

Thanks, for the pictures.

Well, I called Killer Creek and talked with Mark, one of the parts guys there. I told him that I need "that little wire harness that goes from the 3-pin TP connector under the left saddlebag, up into the Tour Pak, like the Ultras use." He said the Ultras have a harness that has a pigtail to power the rear lights and the side lights from that cable. I told him to order THAT one, because I might want to order a spoiler too (which I later did in the call) and he said the Ultra harness was $54. I said O-KAY! I didn't even bother to ask him the part#... they are really good at Killer and have found all sorts of part numbers for me over the years. Hopefully it will work when I get it... and I am quite sure it will.

I had to order that harness because my bike didn't have a harness to go back to and into the Tour Pak, and this Tour Pak didn't come with any lights, nor a connector harness either. I figured if I can just get the same harness the Ultras use, I could save myself the effort of rigging something up myself. I did that on Bertha the Evo when I put a TP on her, and I didn't really want to go through that again...   :2vrolijk_21:

Very good points, guys. Never thought about it that way. Maybe "minimalism" is the way to go with this bike. It does look pretty back there with all of that  :orange: :orange: :orange: staring the guy behind me in the face! I'll leave it alone for awhile, until I decide what to do - which the more I think about it, may be NOTHING MORE!

Thanks for the suggestions!

The Ultra harness I bought is supposed to be the harness that runs from the little 3-wire Tour Pak connector inside the left side cover, back to the Tour Pak itself, and into the Tour Pak. My bike did not have that harness - it only had a short wire bundle, about 2" of which was even accessible, with the 3-pin Tour Pak connector on it under the left side cover. I had no wires to plug into that connector to get power to the Tour Pak. The Ultra harness I bought is supposed to provide a connection from the bike to the spoiler wires, and also to the side lights wire harness that you referred to in the link. The side lights wire harness in those instructions remains entirely within the Tour Pak itself... it's intended to plug into the harness from the bike that would already be there on an Ultra.

I will also need to drill the 1/2" hole in the front of the Tour Pak for the wire coming from the bike to pass into the Tour Pak. This Tour Pak has no holes in it at all for wiring. Not sure where I will drill into the Tour Pak... I want to find the most inconspicuous place for the wire to enter the Tour Pak from the bike...

congrats, beautiful scooter!!!

for the unknown: what would "Antique Gunstock" look like  :o

Another option might be to have some custom paint lettering or something done back there... maybe "Harley-Davidson", "CVO Street Glide", or even "North Georgia Hawg" in Antique Gunstock! That'd pretty much guarantee uniqueness!

SO what does everyone think?

It's also known as "Brown"! It's the brown color on the bottom half of the bike. It has flakes with different colors in it... looks nice on the bottom in the sun.

Looks great Ken  :2vrolijk_21:

Personally I would add the SEUC rear light from the 10 or 11 model painted in Hot Citrus. Would look great and give you the added lights. Might keep some of these idiots on the Alpharetta Autobahn off of your arse.

The tour pak spoiler LED is wired to the accessory connector under the seat, and not to the tour pak harness used for the side marker lights and other OEM tour pak lighting.  Here's a link to the installation instructions:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloads/Service/isheets/-J01364.pdf

See page 2, steps 11-13.

You can wire the spoiler LED to the wiring inside the tour pak easily enough; that's how the spoiler LED is wired on my Ultra TP.  Using the tour pak's wiring for the spoiler LED makes it a bit easier to install and remove the tour pak since only the tour pak harness needs to connected/disconnected; no need to remove the seat to unplug the spoiler LED connector supplied with the kit.

As for the tour pak harness, typically it is coiled and zip tied to the frame, though I have no personal knowledge of the tour pak harness on a SESG3.  Typically, the three-wire connector is black and will have a black ground wire, blue run light circuit wire, and a red/yellow brake light circuit wire.

Good luck with your installation.

Carl

NGHawg,
Nice pictures and nice bike! I pick my ruby red up this Friday.
I was contemplating a chopped tour-pak instead of the full size one. Now that I see your pictures I'll go with the full size tour-pak.
I will put the airwing luggage rack on which I already have with the smoked tail/stop light.
I will leave the back of the tour-pak alone unless I find something to paint on there. I think a SE emblem like the tanks of the 05's would be nice.
Right now less is more.
The side lights do not come with the tour-pak?
