Mine does the same thing. Been to the selling dealer and they claim they have talked to Mother Harley. They claim that it was designed this way.....
Guess I need to call Harley. Also have same headsets.
I got mine replaced with no problem shortly after my original post on this subject. Has worked fine ever since, other than I had to have the Roadtech 660 replaced as well...did not let the dealer do that, but contacted Garmin directly and they sent me a "new" unit. Has worked fine since.
Chances are good that on your 11 bike, it has the bad version. As mentioned, the new version has a "A" on the end of the part number. Most dealers don't know WTF a NIM is, much less how it works. Depending on what dipchit they talked to at the mothership (if they actually talked to anyone at all), they may not have a clue how it works either.
