Jim, went back and looked at the notes from the phone calls that day and just didn't have it for that call.  Unfortunately I don't remember either.  Might even be the guy didn't give a name as I'm pretty good about collecting them when it might be worthwhile to have them later.  Sorry 'bout dat.

No worries Don - I'm guessing that must be him, as it's obviously his number from the voicemail. On voicemail on Friday and Monday - and I'm guessing that maybe cos this is a holiday weekend over there, yes?  No point in trying today I guess - the 4th and all - so I'll try him again tomorrow.

The holiday almost certainly is your problem now Jim.  Independence Day (sorry 'bout that) is not one of the holidays we move to Mondays for the automatic three day weekend.  Celebrating a holiday called "the 4th of July" on some other day would be silly even for us.  So since it's on the Tuesday this year many places shuttered on Monday too rather than getting the week started for just one day and then starting over again.

Yup, I guessed as much.  I'll try him tomorrow.  ;)

OK, new Bluetooth module is in at the dealers, and I'll pick it up tomorrow!  Hope this one works - if so, I'll let you all know about the GPS and phone..... fingers crossed!  ;)

Jim, I'm really tuned in on this thread waiting to hear the results. I have my fingers crossed too. What GPS software do you have on your ipaq? Is that software what you would recommend to others? My ipaq is a 6515. I hope there aren't availability/compatability issues if your model is different. I've done some research on the software for a 6515 but its tough because everyone claims theirs is best.

I Use TomTom navigator 5, with a Bluetooth GPS unit that I had neatly in the Tour Pak, powered off the rear light circuit. Yes, I'd recommend the TTN5 software, good in Europe at least, so I'd imagine the US maps are good too. The TTN5 should run on the 6515 too, I think - www.tomtom.com should say.

Well, the new Bluetooth unit works. For the phone. Not the GPS.  :(

Works fine for the phone (though won't transfer the phone book).  The lady doesn't seem to understand my accent though - we have some interesting conversations!  ;)

However, the iPaq sends the GPS audio faithfully over the bluetooth link - but the Audio System does nothing. Bit of a retrograde step for me. Last bike I had all my audio working niceley, phne and GPS, now no GPS. Wish there was some way to get it to work on the HK system, but it seems there isn't.  :-/

As an aside, the pairing operation doesn't resemble what the book says at all - it says you have to speak the "1, 2, 3, 4" pairing PIN into the mic, but mine doesn't ask for that at all; I just enter the 1,2,3,4 on the iPaq, and it pairs.

Anybody got an idea on how to get GPS (any GPS except the MoCo's!) audio to mix with the rest of the audio so you can listen to radio/CD/MP3 and have the GPS audio override that?

Jim, the pairing you describe on your iPaq is the same as I had too.

Looks like you should check to make sure this will work on the HK.  Very well may, but if it works on a 98 radio makes me wonder if the connections are all the same.

Product listing from the site Fr8 gave us:

This component terminal will integrate the audio signals from a cell phone, GPS and/or radar detector with the driver's (only) helmet headset. If the cell phone normally rings out of its hands-free headset jack, or emits any other beeps or tones, it will momentarily be heard in the left headset speaker. A flip of the supplied control switch activates complete connection of the driver's headset to the cell phone for hands-free operation. If the radar detector or GPS unit emits any commands, beeps or braps, regardless of what else might be being heard in the headset, they will momentarily be heard in the right speaker. This kit includes the plug-in integration module, handlebar-mounted control switch, adapter cables for three-pin and four-pin cell phone headset jacks, and adapter cables for most radar detector/GPS audio output jacks. Complete installation and operating instructions are included. This integration kit is to be used on’98 and Later Harley ULTRAS only.

On another link here, under Electronic Toys and gadgets, there are detailed instructions on hooking up GPS to your bike...in that thread, there are links to other sources for parts.

The part mentioned above will NOT work with the '06 radio, according to the page I looked at...however, this might

Can't see how that one would interface with the existing audio system though - "Can I use my xma3 with my existing intercom system? Given the sheer number of intercom manufacturers and the variety of intercom designs, the best answer that we can give is - maybe. The best results will be obtained by routing the headphone output of the intercom into a mono input on the xma3. If your intercom system uses a proprietary connector that won't let you separate out the microphone and headphone lines, then you'll either have to connect the output of the xma3 to the stereo input on the intercom – still giving you the benefit of additional inputs and crossfeed for the music but probably with a loss of sound quality and volume - or source an adaptor for your particular intercom unit. The xma3 can be used in much the same way with FRS radios, the xma3 V.2 now supports FRS radio integration."

A non starter I think.  This is such a pain - I had it all working perfectly on my 03 Ultra!  :(
