Something the parts and service guys at the dealer noted:

The Falcon belt appears to not molded correctly.. the cords are pushing out the side of part of the belt.

Anyone buy the 138 tooth belt from Drag? I just got mine and I noticed it is a 1" belt but it fits snugly on the rear pulley whereas the stock belt the 139 tooth (HD) has a bit of clearance. I didn't measure either belt but am wondering what will happen. Will I get some side wear on the belt from touching both sides of the rear pulley? My buddy and I both want to use the Trike 30 tooth pulley and these belts from Drag.
BTW I have a 137 tooth belt from a 2007 application never been used for sale at 1/2 the retail price plus shipping if anyone is interested. I bought it to use with the 30 tooth pulley and it is a hair short unfortunately.

I have a 130 hp build and 30t.  We installed a Gates Carbin fiber and it still looks new with about 10,000 miles.

Curious now, I've heard of the Falcon carbon fiber & the Gates poly chain, but never a Gates carbon fiber...
Is this something new or have I just not looked hard enough?
May I ask where you found your belt?

Thanks

Gates Poly Chain was a new belt tooth profile that came out many years ago.  Unlike the standard timing belt profiles used in other applications that were more flat and shallower, the Poly Chain profile was almost a half round lug profile that would stick deeper into a pulley providing "chain" like load bearing capabilities unlike other timing belt profiles.

So today Poly Chain is more a type of profile than a composition make up of the belt.  Gates did use polyester fiber for reinforcement which was new way back when as well.  Now the carbon fiber, Kevlar, Aremid fiber etc, is the new high strength reinforcement that most all companies use in their high torque belt applications.

So I assume it would be safe to say that Proctor just has the Gates belt, whereas I bought the Falcon...just to be simple? :2vrolijk_21:

I've got probably around 3000 miles on my Falcon, going through all the motor mods, with around 123 for hp/tq & no problems yet.
In the process of going 117ci or 124ci right now, just trying to make the decision on the crank - make it a stroker or not.
So we'll see how the belt takes that abuse in a month or so. ;D

All I know is when we did the 30T conversion, I had to go down 1 tooth on the best and my dealer talked me into a carbon fiber belt.  I swore he told me it was a gates belt.  Anyway, bottom line, no issues at all.  He did tell me that the carbon fiber will withstand cuts a lot better then the kevlar.  My Brother had a stock belt break that was caused by debries picked up by the belt.

I'd like to put a 31T pulley on my 2011 Street Glide, but am having reservations due to all these belt breaking threads.

Since I'd only be going 1 tooth smaller (31T from 32T), can anyone confirm if the stock HD belt that came with the bike will work?

If not, has anyone found a decent 139T 1" belt that doesn't break?

Thanks
