You'll definitely need it if you ever get caught in a downpour. I forgot to put it on and got caught in a downpour on a highway and the engine eventually stalled. I coasted to the shoulder of the highway and then put the sock on. It took a bunch of starts but eventually it started. It ran rough but eventually settled down and I was able to continue on...in the downpour.

Per the instructions and diagram in the link above, it is part # 29762-09, however on the HD website, I plugged that number in and didn't get anything.  You might try that part # at your dealer.

There have been ebay auctions for this item with this part # in the past, but not any active ones right now.

Good luck!

FYI - I had my rain sock on and got caught in the mother of all rain storms...bike still sputtered some.  Luckily it never died.

Good that you had the sock on. If you hadn't you would have been on the side of the road waiting for the intake to dry out.

With rain being the operative word when you say England, can one ride with the rain sock on all the time? or does that reduce the air flow into the engine.
Wonder if there is a mod that enables one to continue to use the Screaming Eagle intake but with a hard cover over the filter. Would be interesting to hear any thoughts on this.

Are you using the stock A/F element or the K&N unit? Just wondering.

Yes you can ride with the rainsock on all the time. It really shouldn't reduce the airflow at all. It's just doesn't look that attractive in my opinion. I generally just keep in folded up and stored in the lower fairing compartment on the right side along with my rain glasses. I figure I've its raining hard enough for me to pull out my rain glasses, it'll remind me to put the rain sock on.

Does the Rain Sock come with the bike when you buy it ? Mine didn't. When I bought the heavy breather for my dyna it came with a Rain Sock.  :cucumber:

I switched over from the stock A/C on my 2010 Ultra to the Ventilator. The sock came in the packaging with the Ventilator A/C. The new SE Ultras come with the Ventilator from the factory but I don't know if the sock comes standard.

I am not sure what  A/C comes with the bike. I must ask. I take delivery in November.  Will make sure I remind the dealership that I trust a rain sock will be supplied with the bike upon delivery. I can but ask.

All I know is that when I had the SEPRT & V&H high outputs done at the dealership they said I did not need the stage 1 A/C as it came standard with the bike, but No rain sock !

Bet your counting down the days... any update on delivery date ? Will have to ride over there when it's in to have a look in the flesh.  :cucumber:

Looks like mid November. Will get an update this coming week from Steve at Guildford as the bike should now have been built,
Thanks Rickasha and others for your info.
