Missing at Cold Idle after Fullsac Installation
« on: October 11, 2011, 04:53:42 PM »

I completed the installation of a Fullsac X-Pipe, 3.5" Rinehart Slip-on's and Fullsac provided map via the TTS Mastertune a few weeks ago. Now when I first start the bike cold it will idle at around 1000 RPM which I would expect however is sounds and feels like one of the cylinders is missing or not firing intermittently. When I watch the tachometer it will drop RPM’s at the same time as the “missing”. Once the bike warms up everything seems to be ok. I do not remember this condition before the upgrades.

I emailed Fullsac and Steve quickly replied with map with lower fuel in the warm up cycle. I hope to give the new map a try tomorrow and will report the results.

Has anyone experienced this scenario? What was done to correct it?

I haven't heard of this problem.  If it were me, I would reinstall the original HD map and start it cold and see what it does.  I would ride it with Steve's original supplied map to get it cleaned out first in case a plug was fouled.  Keep us in the loop on what happens.

It is very common to experience cold/hot idle problems. Correcting the problem is all part of tuning a bike. When using a  map devoleped for another bike,or starting with a canned map. You have to dial in the idle because your motor probably isn't idling in the same kpa area,
Or your idling in a kpa area that is polling 2 or three kpa areas.
It very well could be that it is too rich during warmup enrichment.most are.
but if it is surging up and down it is jumping between kpa areas and it has to me settled down, before it can be dialed in.

I thought that also.

Yes, I removed one at a time and put it back in the same spot on the X-Pipe. As previously posted the "Doctor" provided a map leaning the warm up cycle. I was hoping to try the new map today but ran out of time. Will try again tomorrow and report the results.

Loaded Steve's new map and the bike behaves the same. I will put the stock ECM settings in to see how that does.

You're doing what most of us would be doing.  Let us know on the outcome.  Good luck.

Thanks! I will keep this thread updated. It would appear that I am the only one that has had this issue with the Fullsac stuff based on the threads responses.

I am happy that it does not appear to be a hardware issue since the bike idles fine with the stock map. I am also happy with Fullsac's response thus far even though it was unsuccessful. I hope I don't have to seek out a local tuner to clear this idle thing up!

Please confirm the black 02 sensor is installed in the rear cylinder.(upper 02 port). It would be very helpfull too, if you could provide a ballpark cylinder temp
also during the issue. This can be easily done with the data logger right after you complete a download.

Thanks!

I will check the O2 sensors when I get home this evening. Although I am certain that I removed one at a time and reinstalled them in the same position in the X-Pipe having this asked more than once has put some doubt in my mind. I will post the results.

Do not know how to get a temp for you but I will attempt to run Data Logger after reading up on it. I can tell you that the conditions have been 60 to 70 degrees at start up when the issue is evident.

This step I would think eliminates the O2 sensors being backwards.

Unless the stock tune had both holes tuned the same.
