2011 FLTRUSE comes with factory installed RT Zumo 660 which can pair with your iPhone to receive calls via bluetooth. But to answer calls via your headset microphone, you must use an HDBomm product to activate the microphone. After removing the fairing ............I'll be damned if I can find the 2.5mm female jack which (I think) should be there as a part of the Zumo installation. Anyone else have this issue?

On a 2011 RG the 2.5mm jack that you are looking for will be one of two places.

Looking at the front of the bike (you need to take the fairing off) it will be on the right hand side between the fairing and the fork, it might be taped to a bundle of wires.

Or in the middle of the rear fairing where all the cables run from the fork into the fairing, it might be loose.

Both places are hard to find. If you look at the NIM, which is on the left hand side (to the left of the radio) you will see a 3.5mm connection with a thumb screw coming from the NIM. This cable (that is attached to the NIM) is the audio output from the GPS. Follow this cable back (towards the GPS) until you find the Y split. At the split you will find another cable, which is smaller (this is the microphone cable). Follow this cable and you will find the 2.5mm jack on the end.

The main harness from the GPS has two main cables running into the fairing. Both of these cables will split into two separate but smaller cables. One cable will split and become the power and the other will have the USB connector. The other main cable will split and become the audio output (3.5mm stereo connected to the NIM) and the other will be the 2.5mm microphone input. When you find the 2.5mm jack there will be a tag saying "microphone".

It can be a pain to find at times, take your time it is there.

Mahalo Jim ...........found the 3.5mm stereo NIM wire and traced it back to the Y and noted the slightly thinner wire (which must be for the 2.5mm microphone). Tracing that thinner wire back into the narrow opening towards the forks is a royal pain as it appears to be thoroughly taped to the harness deep within that narrow opening. I've removed the speedo and tach in the hopes of finding it from the other side. Not knowing for sure if this is the correct wire had made me hesitant to go further...........now, thanks to you, I can proceed with confidence! I appreciate your reply!

That is the wire, they can be a real pain to get to. On all the 2012 models that I have installed the H-D Bomm on they are easier as the 2.5mm microphone wire is not taped to the wire bundle. Once you find it you can just pull it thru the opening in the center of the fairing where all the wires come thru. I suppose Harley figured that no one would want to get to this wire so they bundled it with the other wires at the factory. I think some people must have complained to Harley because they stopped taping it with the 2012 models.

Thanks for your guidance Jim .........the deed is done! Was able to cut the tape with a long flat-bladed screw driver and then pull the mic wire out from deep in the wiring bundle. While the fairing was off, also removed the radio and performed the rear AUX mod. While your instructional photos helped a great deal here ..........I was amazed at how tiny the components are ........needed a powerful magnifying glass to identify and scratch through that circuit board trace. Then .......the daunting task of reinstalling the Road Glide fairing "completed" my Saturday. It's sooooo good to be done!!!!!! Now I get to discover if the factory installed NIM works properly with the R/T Zumo 665.

I also have a 2011 FLTRUSE, purchased the BOMM from Jim and a Road Tech 665 from my dealer.  I also purchased a Garmin GXM40 USB extension cable so i could locate the antenna in the left side glove box, not seen and easily removed for use on another bike and my car.  The bad news is that when the dealer installed the antenna he said it worked.  But not for long as by the time I picked it up and left for a trip to Arkansas it no longer worked.  The dealer is not 100% sure it's an HD warranty issue.  After many emails to Garmin they confirmed that all 2011 HD cradle/harness support the GXM40 antenna and the one in my bike is defective.  Garmin is shipping me a replacement cradle/harness second day air.  Garmin makes only two types of ZUMO cradle/harness, the standard one #101-10765-31 and one for CVO applications #101-10765-33 so it can be pulled through the handlebars.  When I get the replacement harness I'll take a picture and post it so everyone can see the differences.  Anyway I should find out tomorrow if HD is going to warranty the labor to replace the harness.  Hard to believe that after purchasing a 36K bike, 2k in HD extended warranty, a HD Road Tech 665 that they are not willing to warranty the cable when Garmin confirms it defective!

This is an old thread, but here it goes ...

I have a 2011 FLTRUSE that also came with the Road Tech 660.  I have a RT 665 that I purchased for another bike that I would like to snap into the 660 mount and plug the XM antenna into the mini USB port (hopefully there is a port).  So, before I pull the fairing off, I was hoping to get a little guidance.

- Are the 660 and 665 harnesses the same and will the 660 harness on my 2011 FLTRUSE fully support all 665 features, e.g. traffic and weather?
- Where will I find the mini USB port for the XM antenna?  Behind faring? Wrapped and hidden in a bundle of wires?
- Best location to place the antenna inside the faring?
- Any other issues I may run into in the process?

Maybe I will start a new topic since this one is so old.

Dave if you have an ultra then Harley liked to route the External Microphone Input connector back into the hole made for the wiring harness as they figure no one would ever want to use it. 

Look at the hole where the wiring harness comes thru the inner cowling. You should only see 1 large cable. If you see 1 large cable and 1 small cable then the small cable is the External Microphone Input just work it back out of the hole. Dave also see your other post

If you have a Road Glide it is going to be a real pain and the best thing to have is patience as you will have to hunt for it. Look where the wires come from the bike into the cowling. You might get lucky and see it sitting there.

Another way is to find the NIM which is mounted on the left side of the inner cowling and follow the round wire that goes to it back until you find a split. Follow the small wire at that split it is the external microphone input wire and you will find the connector.
