Note - those net prices are for solid colors, graphics adds $50

They don't have graphics to match the graphics on my bike.  Maybe if I was riding a crotch rocket I might go for the graphics. :nixweiss:  Hell, they don't even have a solid blue (not that I'd every wear anything but basic black). :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

I expect those "pre-sale" prices to only be good until the helmets are available......then they'll go up right away.  Don't think it will be months later.  The RevZilla web site says mid-Feb. on the helmets and early Mar. on the B4 N-comm.   But then a couple months ago they were saying the first of the year for a release on the helmets. :nixweiss:

Those dates fall right in line with what Nolan told me for delivery, end of February, early March, with the Ncom installed.

Same for me. But, I opted for the flat lava gray, with some small red pin striping. Don't really think it is worth the extra $50, but I liked it when I saw it.

That's a nice looking helmet Porthole.  The red will go well with my bike.  :2vrolijk_21:  I like that red is not the primary color.  Gotta order one now!

The more I look at the picture above...with the internal sun visor.......kind of reminds me of the flight helmets back in the 70s.  Just not a bad looking helmet....as far as helmets go.

JC,

The helmet actually looks pretty good in person. The flare-spoiler  in the rear of the helmet does not appear to look as big as it did in past varieties, something I though looked a bit out of place.
The huge "impala" visor also takes away a bit of the traditional look.

And since the chin bar is cantilevered when up it also looks much better in that position then other modular lids.

This is the first helmet since buying my first helmet in 74 that I am actually looking forward to using. At the show the helmet seemed to do a good job of masking the outside noise, something that I did not notice until trying on other helmets. I might actually be able to enjoy my music on the road with this helmet.

Terry had mentioned something about the weight differences based on my memory of the numbers dropped. Somewhere on the many links I found that the 104 is 7ounces lighter then the 103, so that is right in line with what Terry thought.

Ah ya caught me Spydy.

IIRC - the Nolan was 1640 grams, the Schubert was about 1600. I couldn't tell you if I could feel that difference picking up the helmets though. The Schubert's I handled were both with and without the comms. I only looked at the Nolan with comms, as that would be the way I would get it. And my test size had the Ncom installed
"Felt weight" seemed to be comparable to the Harley offered carbon fiber FF. Which by feel I could tell is lighter then my current FF.

Both helmets felt lighter both on my head and in my hands then what I am used too.

A man of your stature should be into kilos......not grams. ???

I don't ever remember another helmet getting this much attention before it even come out on the market. :2vrolijk_21:   By the way, I have a Nolan N-103, size XL w/bluetooth, a few thousand gentle miles on it, for sale about early Mar. :huepfenlol2:

The N-104 will be one of the lightest Flip Face helmets out there.  The 7oz figure is right regarding weight savings over the N-103.  While weight is not the ONLY factor with any helmet, it does make a difference.  Aerodynamics plays a part as well.  I don't think anyone could go wrong with the N104...the only down side I see at present, is there is no way to be hard wired to the bike for those who have the on board Ipod, use the CB, etc.  J&M will likely solve that issue at some point in time.  Any device that can stream stereo bluetooth will be fine though, as well as bike to bike communication with others who have a BT helmet, if everything is paired up.

It would be virtually impossible to mount the HD headsets that come with the SEUC's to the N-104 because of the location of the sun visor slide mechanism.  Maybe HD will come out with a BT capable communication/Nav system on bikes in the future. :nixweiss:

Mini jack in the back of the helmet for any hardwired "IN" stuff.

One of the features I like is the BT for music from the iPod or any A2DP compatible radio. That means if we use our iPods/i Phones we both can have separate music playing.
Or, if I hardwired the iPod then we can both listen to the same music and still have an open intercom, with the music playing in the background.

My plans are to hopefully use the radios BT feature (Sony X300, internal iPod dock) to pipe tunes to the helmet.
If that doesn't works as well as hoped plan B will be to use the rear speaker circuit and add a mini jack to the harness and get tunes that way. Either way will allow my iPod to be controlled from the handlebar controls. Pandora, slacker, iHeart radio and my local radio stations iPod app.  :2vrolijk_21:

I asked about the factory HD stuff and was told the simple answer was that it is in the works. my guess would be some type of BT interface.

The new Ncom B4 is supposed to also be compatible with the FRS and whatever the other similar radio type is.

A lot of information on there site......  http://www.n-com.it/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8&Itemid=27&lang=us&brandid=1

and here......    http://www.n-com.it/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=55&Itemid=228&lang=us&brandid=1

But one of the best new features (how many of you Nor Cal members have I talked with about the technology is here.....why do they not have it?) is the ability to connect up to 4 other riders, provided they all have the B4 N-Com!

And another feature that Terrie and I will really appreciate is the increased (straight line, no obstruction) of up to 800 meters (approx. 875 yds.)!  Of course that will also help when there are other riders in the group that are paired to you......finally!

B4 is the revolutionary N-Com communication system designed specifically for N104 helmets. Its new design, multiple features, excellent performances and innovative installation system will leave you fully satisfied. Try it and see for yourself.galleria immagini

The ease with which the N-Com B4 is installed in the N104 helmet will be a pleasant surprise for those who are already familiar with N-Com systems and will win new customers over. In the packaging, the B4 system is ready for use: simply remove the gasket around the edge of the helmet shell and position the N-Com system. All it takes is just a few seconds.

Do you like riding your motorbike in the company of friends? Thanks to bike-to-bike communication up to 800 metres*, you can communicate with 4 other motorbikes equipped with N-Com B4.

Otherwise, get ready for totally relaxing rides on your motorbike as you listen to the FM radio with RDS built-in or by pairing up the system via Bluetooth with your mobile phone, Mp3 reader or GPS.

Do you need a Firmware update? No problem: you can do it from the comfort of your home, by hooking up the N-Com B4 to the PC and using the N-Com Wizard programme. You can also choose to pre-set your favourite ratio stations to listen to when riding your motorbike and adjust the audio parameters according to your needs.

Well, you dashed my dreams on the rocks of reality...

Webikeworld will likely have their hands on one of these very soon and give a full review...they do really good reviews on helmets, IMO.

Off topic a bit, but interesting information from the webikeworld page on helmets:

The Motorcycle Rider Conspicuity and Crash Related Injury study conducted over 3 years in New Zealand (1993-1996) found that:
Motorcycle crash-related injuries occurred mostly in urban areas with a 50 km/h speed limit (66%).
Most crashes occurred during the day (63%) and in good weather (72%).
Riders wearing reflective or fluorescent clothing had a 37% lower risk than other riders.
Compared with wearing a black helmet, use of a white helmet was associated with a 24% lower risk.
Self reported light colored helmet versus dark colored helmet was associated with a 19% lower risk.
75% of motorcycle riders had their headlight turned on during the day, and this was associated with a 27% lower risk.
No association occurred between risk and the frontal color of riders' clothing or motorcycle color.
The risks are 33% for wearing no reflective or fluorescent clothing, 18% for a non-white helmet, 11% for a dark colored helmet, and 7% for no daytime headlight operation.
Conclusions: Low conspicuity may increase the risk of motorcycle crash related injury. Increasing the use of reflective or fluorescent clothing, white or light colored helmets, and daytime headlights are simple, cheap interventions that could considerably reduce motorcycle crash related injury and death.
