I started a post awhile back when my heated grips stopped working. I've searched this site and have found that mine is not an isolated case, but rather, many have given up on the H-D grips and have opted for the Heat Demons. This weekend I experienced what at least one other forum member has when I turned on the grips for the hell of it and was surprised to find that they worked again. Well, my jubilation was short lived because they are not working again. I should have left them on when they were working, but instead I turned them off when I got home. Since then, I have tried them on different settings, but to no avail--they just won't heat up. Has anyone else experienced this "working--not working" phenomenon, and if so, have you found out what the problem is? I have to think it is either a loose wire or a short causing it. Some have suggested that dampness causes rust to form on the rheostat contacts. And a final question I have is, if the rheostat control is the problem, can it be replaced without replacing the entire set, i.e. both grips and wiring? I'm hoping that I can salvage the grips and just replace what needs to be replaced. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
