Mark, I know the decision was hard but times are hard right now and we all have to do what we have to do.There is nothing better than to take advantage of an opportunity that comes your way, I wish you well on what you have decided,  I will not miss the ( final ) Farewell ride, no matter where and when I'm in.  I also want to do the 2 hour private with you that we discussed the last time we rode together, hopefully before you leave, if you have time and if you don't I'll wait till you get back to sunny SoCal.  8)    Let me know!      Mike

Good luck Mark! I know it was a tough decision...especially being away from your kids. The technology is great nowadays and with skype, etc, you'll be able to stay in touch. Hope to be able to ride with you before you take off....please be safe...Hugs, Mel

My house is packed, everything is in boxes, and my bikes are stored. Mark is off on his Middle East Adventure,…..but not yet.

The world of contractors is a competitive business. My company was awarded the contract to support the mission in Afghanistan, and I was selected to go. However one of the rival contractor companies filed a formal protest (a common tactic) over the bidding process, and that has thrown a wrench into my departure date. All protests MUST be reviewed by the legal unit to ensure there was no malfeasance, influence peddling (think Ed Meese during the Reagan years) or wrong doing in the bid process. During the protest a Stop Work Order is issued until all is resolved. The good news is that the protests are rarely overturned. The bad news is that like all legal matters they take time. This compounded with the holidays and folks taking leave probably means there won’t be an outcome until sometime in early February. The better news is that I can celebrate the holidays with my kids, and,….. there is MORE opportunity to go riding!! As for me, well I’m NOT unpacking. Everything stays in boxes and I will live out of my suitcase and duffle bag for the next few months. I plan to hold classes in December and January.

So, having said all that,…..Hey So Cal, how about a ride on Saturday December 10th. We can meet for breakfast, and then spend a couple of hours wandering the International Motorcycle Show at the Long Beach Convention Center. I’ll post it as an event.

Glad you get to spend the holidays with family but kind of a bummer you have to wait for a while. But hey you get to ride a bit longer so that's a great deal.  :2vrolijk_21:

Glad to hear you will be stateside with relatives for the Holidays. Being able to ride for a few more months doesn't suck either.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a note to let everyone know that our member ironhorse, Mark Paz from Ride Like a Pro, will be heading off tomorrow for Afghanistan to work there for a year.  He is a great friend, rider and teacher and we look forward to his safe return  :2vrolijk_21: Roger
