My house is packed, everything is in boxes, and my bikes are stored. Mark is off on his Middle East Adventure,…..but not yet.
The world of contractors is a competitive business. My company was awarded the contract to support the mission in Afghanistan, and I was selected to go. However one of the rival contractor companies filed a formal protest (a common tactic) over the bidding process, and that has thrown a wrench into my departure date. All protests MUST be reviewed by the legal unit to ensure there was no malfeasance, influence peddling (think Ed Meese during the Reagan years) or wrong doing in the bid process. During the protest a Stop Work Order is issued until all is resolved. The good news is that the protests are rarely overturned. The bad news is that like all legal matters they take time. This compounded with the holidays and folks taking leave probably means there won’t be an outcome until sometime in early February. The better news is that I can celebrate the holidays with my kids, and,….. there is MORE opportunity to go riding!! As for me, well I’m NOT unpacking. Everything stays in boxes and I will live out of my suitcase and duffle bag for the next few months. I plan to hold classes in December and January.
So, having said all that,…..Hey So Cal, how about a ride on Saturday December 10th. We can meet for breakfast, and then spend a couple of hours wandering the International Motorcycle Show at the Long Beach Convention Center. I’ll post it as an event.
